Ratings. They sound good in theory. What better way to know how good content is? Unfortunately, the reality is far, far different:

Trolls - We've all seen them. They rate things a one, just because they can.

Non-Raters - There is a LOT of awesome content on fanpop that goes unrated.

Friends and Enemies - Friends get high ratings. Enemies get low ratings. It happens.

Rating Unfairly - People dish out 1-star ratings to immagini and video containing characters/pairings they don't support.

As with any web site, fanpop is only as good as its content. Some content - what I think of as the soul of the site - is generated da users in the fora and in commenti on the rest of the content and cannot be rated. But the rest of the content - the body of the site - has a ratings system.
