I suppose a lot of the problem is the whole medals thing. It makes people feel like they have to have the medal to show their fandom. But mostly it just makes me a little sad that I add picks and videos and links and things to spots of tv shows or couples I love etc. and barely anyone responds because some of my favorite spots aren't really happening anymore.

I know i am not new but i remember what it was like trust me i think the most screwed up thing on here is the medal system o i was on the anime spots for 7 months of adding content and such before i got it because no one ever got on but i guess once the day came i was so much more happy and grateful for it

Yeah it's not even really the medal though, the whole thing about fanpop for me is getting to discuss things with people, but if only 5 people answer picks I put up it's a little sad :(

haha thats actually pretty good on the spots i come from as the long as the people are smart about what they are talking about its great although if they arent its rather boring. On the naruto spot we can talk for 2 pages on one pick but then again if you dont have people like that i can understand i have had times where a spot has completely died and i made picks and i was the only one who answered them XD i felt like was talking to myself but the one thing about fanpop is that it always changes

I think I've finally gotten over the medal thing...almost. Anyways, I wished some of my favourite spots were more lively. And when I don't add things to those spots I feel bad cuz I'm adding to the silence in those spots

Nah I just want to add things, and talk about them. I am very active on the Horror Movies spot and it's my activity that got it mostly back up & running again months ago. It was dead when I first joined but now it's alive :D If you do that, people will probably care.

My advice to newbies is to just add good things to the spot anyway and people might come back to the spot. For example, there are lots of spots that I belong to but don't really contribute to, but if someone started adding stuff I would probably go take a look at what they were adding. I also belong to lots of spots in which I am pretty much the only person even visiting the spot, but that can be kinda fun because its kinda like your own little thing.

Yeah, I hated it when my favorite spot died, just a couple of weeks ago, and some others were already dead when I joined. Moving on to other spots didn't really help, esp. when my fave spot was one of my fave shows and the reason I joined Fanpop in the first place!

well i've been on here quite a bit and 3 of my 4 faveirote spots are dead, robin hood, w.i.t.c.h, and avatar the last airbender.

It actually didn't really bother me that much i suppose. At least before some of my favourite spots had died all the people before were contributing alot of good stuff and picks and quiz questions so at least i had that to keep me busy. I just went in and answered them like i was having a conversation even though i was most probably just talking to myself XD And I still check them out when i'm having a break from the really active spots i go to ^_^

It used to really annoy and upset me. A lot of my favourite clubs were inactive because they were for TV programmes which had ended a while ago, characters who'd died seasons ago, pairings which finished years ago or were just generally less popular etc. Some of those clubs were originally where I was most active, but it was like I was talking to myself there.

have you seen the link spot?? im pretty much the only person who contributes. my efforts to revive it were for nothing
