Chapter Two
"Chameleons"
Maya Herrera - Kanyakumari, India
"Peter!?" Maya exclaimed, disbelief and dissapointment mingling sickeningly in the pit of her stomach. For a moment she'd thought...
"Sorry Maya, te weren't supposed to see me here" Peter Petrelli told her, getting to his feet.
Maya simply turned away, ashamed.
"I didn't mean to scare you, it's just, I thought I should pay my respects and..." Peter trailed off.
"It's fine, it's good to see te again." she told him half-heartedly. She turned to face him, but he had gone.
Returning to the beach, Maya wiped the dirt off the long shite sari she was wearing, trying not to look flustered. It had been a long day.
"Excuse me?" a pretty indian woman addressed Maya, approaching with a pleasant smile.
"Yes?"
"You were a close friend of Mohinder's, yes?" she asked.
"That's right, we met in New York." she told her, wondering why she was so interested.
"Mira, Mira Shenoy" she said, extended a hand to Maya "Me and Mohinder... we, how do te say?.. Had history."
"I see, I'm very sorry." Maya detto sincerely, but whilst feeling a pang of annoyance (or was it, perhaps jealousy?).
"If te would like, we will be going for a drink later, if te can come I'd Amore for te to unisciti us." she said, indicating a group of what Maya assumed were Mohinder's old università peers.
Maya smiled, pausing for time, the last thing she wanted was to be drilled for information da Mohinder's ex. "I'd be delighted" she told her.
"Maya? Maya Herrera?" came a sudden voice from the crowd behind her.
Turning around she found herself face to face with Peter again.
"Oh, hi" she detto "What happened? Your clothes are... didn't te have a scar a minuto ago?"

Mohinder paused. "Nice to meet you, Dorian." he detto at last, as they stopped at another stoplight. He paused again, a realization coming to him. "Did te say that te lived...under a building?"
Dorian nodded. "I did." she detto to him.
Mohinder blinked. She lived under a building?
Dorian smiled. "Trust me, it's a nice apartment." she said, as if she knew what he was thinking.
The light turned green, and he continued to drive. "If we were to...reform the company," he began, "what would it's, public face be?" His eyes went to the mirror. "Primatech's face was the paper company."
"I was thinking, this." she said.
He raised his eyebrows. "A cab company?" he asked her, his eyebrows raised. "Why a cab company?"
"You see a lot of different people." she said. "No doubt some will have abilities. When we find them, we'll help." she paused. "What do te think?"
Mohinder thought about it as he made a turn. "Count me in."

Mohinder looked at her in the mirror, waiting. "Yes?" he detto at last.
"I live underneath a fairly large building, that I haven't put to a use yet." she said. "And I would like to put it to use."
"....Alright.." detto Mohinder slowly. "What's this got to do with me?"
"That's the proposition." she said. "To reform, the company."
"Reform the company?!" he said, looking at her as though she was insane.
"Not exactly, though." she said. "Not with the purpose of 'bagging and tagging', but with the purpose of helping. Get them to safety. Make sure they stay under the radar."
"Are te serious?" he said, looking at the mirror again.
"I am indeed." she said.
Mohinder paused for a long time. "Before I say yes, o no, to your proposition, tell me one thing."
"Yes?"
"What's your name?" he asked.
She paused, her silvery eyes dancing as they went to the mirror. "Dorian." she said. "Dorian Gray."

Mohinder's eyes widened. "What?" he stuttered.
Her gaze left the window, and went to the rear view mirror, and she looked at the reflection of Mohinder's wide eyes. "It was a beautiful ceramony." she said.
Mohinder's throat was dry. She had known his father. For a moment, his mind flashed back to that day, and he remmebered, seeing her there, for a few breif moments. He swallowed hard. "You knew my father..." he detto soflty.
His fare nodded. "He did più for me than te could ever know." she said, her eyes still on the mirror. "He taught me control. A long while ago, in India. Before his book was published."
Mohinder's eyes widened again. "That....that was you!" he detto suddenly. All of those... appointments, several times a week that he was going to..."
She nodded to him, her eyes never leaving the mirror. "Yes." she said. She paused for a long time. "Now," she began. "About my proposition..."
