As we can see, Alfie Allen as Theon Greyjoy, is taking a beating from the ironborn men. His sister Yara is still nowhere to be seen. Neither is their uncle Euron. However, there is someone else aside from Alfie Allen that we can recognize: Director Jeremy Podeswa appears to be on set, next to Alfie Allen, as the stunt double is being beaten:

That would place this scene in the season premiere or the finale —That is, the episodes being directed by Podeswa, according to our sources. So, why are the men turning on Theon? Does he take the Jon beating then the iron born beating somewhere else or viceversa ? Cause I can’t tell why these guys would kick his ass and then just drop him off at Dany’s in Dragonstone.

I am taking it that the filming on the 25th was at Dragonstone when Jon and Theon met … but no idea where Theon went after that, I guess interiors?

He can’t catch a break indeed. One the one hand, I like this realistic approach; a broken guy like Theon not being able to easily/instantly inspire devotion or loyalty. On the other hand, I would like to finally see him regain his confidence and become a leading figure.

I think this is episode 7. It makes no sense for this to be E1.

To be fair, that bit bugs me too. A lot. Same with the “only dragonglass can kill them” thing too, because six previous seasons contradict that point. But i have a feeling it’s a broken phone situation. Again, until I see it or we get more information, can’t get up in arms about it.

It’s hard to just look at these pics of Them getting beaten, I can only imagine how hard it will be to see it on screen.

FYI, I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but many of the same men here are to be seen arriving with Theon at the Dragonstone beach, in the reunion scene with Jon. The man Theon is fighting here, is actually standing right behind him in the scene with Jon, if you look at footage posted here the other day.

I am very worried about Yara and sick of Theon. I wish Theon was missing instead of Yara.

Why? He needs proof for people from the south.

It’s White Walkers that can be killed with dragonglass and Valyrian Steel only as far as they know, not wights. Wights can be killed with simple fire or by just being hacked. Jon has seen this, he has seen people kill wights with their normal blades or fire, he killed one with fire himself. If it happens like the leaker said, it’ll be a plothole the size of the Moon.

Back when we got the spoiler that Yara or Theon would(might) be captured in a battle with Euron my thoughts (made up theory) were that Daenerys sends a contingent with Yara/Theon to overthrow Euron and be a force on that coast. I figured Yara was captured and Theon escapes but redeems himself and his name by rescuing her later…. I realize these are just a few pictures with no context so it could simply be Yara’s men pissed off at Theon because he screwed up leading to whatever happens to Yara. However, I do have to wonder if perhaps Euron’s men get a hold of him and end up using him as a messenger with an ultimatum for Daenerys.

The foolhardy mission is to get Mad Queen’s support, which is in itself ridiculous of a reason, not to prove it to southerners. He goes beyond The Wall to capture a single wight with several people, fully knowing what’s out there as he has experienced it himself, fully knowing wights keep together and wherever they are White Walkers are behind them. It costs the life of Toros, Viserion and Benjen and has no pay-off as Cersei plans to play them. Why would they think Cersei can be reasoned with and that they need her and could trust her is beyond me.

Pretty much this, yeah. That’s my opinion as well.

The NW has fought the WW and Wights, Fist of the First men, Hardhome and Wildlings have been fighting beyond the wall for generations. They are aware of how to defeat the wights, as for the White Walkers – only Jon, Meera and Sam to my recollection have defeated a WW. Valaryrian Steel and Dragonglass, but we’ll see if they make that connection.

Those things bother me too. There’s very little that doesn’t bother me in there. There are issues with almost all of them.

It is not just about Cersei. It is about everyone in the south. Jaime, Euron, Dorne, maybe even some people in the Riverlands, Stormlands and the Reach.

Since Podeswa is directing, I guess this fight happens in episode 1 and he meets Jon later.

They all laughed at Sir Allister Thorne when he went South in the books with the Wights hand. That needed to be in the show I think, it really drove home how little the people of the South think of the North and the boogeyman.

I know it sounds a bit bizarre, but I’ve come to realize since Season 6 aired that nobody despises Jon more than his own fans do. He’s either a 24/7 BAMF, or he’s completely useless. There is no middle ground.

So, first I also had the thought that this had to be from episode 1 (Podeswa) and might show

1. the guy beating Theon up was also present in the scene where Theon landed in DS and first met Jon – compare for example this

PICTURE . Both Theon and this guy wear exactly the same clothes (well, that doesn’t prove too much as I suppose Ironborn do not sail with big trunks full of backup clothing as dragon queens do 😉 ).

2. They shot this scene directly in front of those unique Flysch stone formations – so I’m quite sure this scene takes place in Dragonstone.

But if this is another Theon scene at DS, when does it happen then? In episode 1? Then Theon and his men would have landed in DS, had some violent discussions, left DS again and returned later to meet with Jon…

Or maybe it happens after the meeting with Jon, which would place it around episode 3 or 4. For example, it could show a reaction of the Ironborn to 1) Theon being treated like a dog by the KitN, or 2) Theon not being able to get the help from Jon / Dany he had promised his men (to save or avenge his sister).

So for me it is hard to think of a scenario that would place this scene in either episode 1 or episode 7. This might be another piece of the puzzle that requests us to question if those director / episode correlations reported are really 100&% correct…

Your sequence of events sounds about right to me. If Theon getting the crap kicked out of him is in episode 1, I’m surprised (spoilers and leaks, I guess)

Yara gets captured so early in the season. I thought it would happen in episode 2 at the earliest. I thought we’d get a bit more lead up before the big naval battle. So I guess the Yara/Euron battle is happening at the same time Dany lands on Dragonstone. It seems events are going to happen at lightning speed in S7.

That’s interesting! So Alfie Allen’s trip to Belfast was simply a trick, and this means that many other things may be tricks as well (not speaking of actual scenes, but more about presence or absence of actors or directors in certain filming locations). D&D are playing the game of lies at full scale.

The Ironborn scene is worth to think about. At first, it looks like it can be happening after Theon’s encounter with Jon: maybe Jon says something/spills out some secret which outrages the Ironborn as well? But then it has to be Ep 7 with Podeswa directing, which makes no sense at all. So, maybe it’s Ep 1 and Theon is bringing news that Yara is captured?

BTW, I have rethought my theories, I could have been wrong indeed. Dragonston could make sense as Dany’s landing spot, if the Tyrell and Dornish forces were ordered to march straight to King’s Landing: if Dany intends to meet her allies at her ultimate destination point, she could make a short stop at Dragonstone before her final jump. It will be a mistake, but an understandable one perhaps.

But then the further course of the war becomes harder to predict. The Sand Snakes will be outsmarted as well, etc. It just hit me that Varys and the Unsullied were seen only in the scene or scenes filmed allegedly for the first episode; afterwards they disappear from Dany’s entourage and more importantly it will be Tyrion, not Varys going with Davos to KL on a highly risky mission, which will almost claim his life. So, in general the outline kind of remains the same: Dany will run into trouble, and Jon will have to help her inflicting troubles on himself, and I still hope that KL will fall in the result of the public revolt, because it kind of makes sense: the Seven Kingdoms is a result of conquest built on lies, if it intends to survive it has to be re-established on a more reliable foundation, otherwise who cares who is the next conqueror. But there is still a lot of questions.

Because every leak sounds stupid for people with no imagination.

They should go and read leaks for Hardhome or S6E9 and S6E10.

i’m not sure despise is a fair comment. he’s a nice lad, his hearts in the right place, he’s honourable and he want to do what is best for everyone in the long run and has no fear of putting himself in peril if that’s required to get there, it’s just sometimes he’s not that tactically astute.

it makes him more human, he’s imperfect and there’s always the possibility that he’s going to do something too far and get himself killed.

I don’t know how much more I can stand to watch Theon getting tormented. Even more so than in the books, Alfie Allen’s extraordinary acting has gotten me totally absorbed in this character’s redemption arc. Keeping my fingers crossed that he sticks around until the bitter end, and if/when Theon does get killed, he gets to do something heroic.

The supposed leaks seem indeed more or less dumb. ON THE PAPER. I remember reading the spoilers for S06E10 and thinking “what a bore” and then seeing it on screen it was AWESOME

I hope Theon arriving at Dragonstone comes much later than the scene reported here. It’s hard to see Theon’s breakdown go any further! If a totally broken Theon decides to join up with Daenerys and her team of formerly broken characters, it would be a continuation of the theme that her closest companions are former slaves, eunuchs, dwarves who were disavowed by their families, etc. It would be in keeping with that if Theon finally found a place for himself with them – he deserves redemption.

Not sure at all. Perhaps after the beatdown, the Ironmen cool down and realize that ALL of them stand a chance to survive if they go appeal to their last possible ally? I mean, Euron wouldn’t just kill Theon, he would kill every last Ironborn who went with Yara. Perhaps that’s what motivates them?

And what were people of North doing against these calls from the NW. Even most of the NW doesnt care about WW..

He was portrayed as the only tactically sound mind when preparing for the defense of the Wall against the wildlings, but I get that with Jon one bad decision instantly overwrites everything that came before it. I’ve figured out that much. I’m curious, though, what would the

tactical move be in a scenario where – leak alert:

the people with the armies don’t believe in white walkers and are dead set on killing each other by the tens of thousands instead? What’s the correct tactical decision here? Dany torches thousands of Lannister soldiers, depleting the “living’s” numbers even more, because she doesn’t buy that the real threat is in the north. What would be a better tactical decision here than bringing irrefutable proof? How is sitting around and watching Dany’s army and the Lannister army massacre each other a wiser decision than taking a small task force north?

QOT is my favourite character but I think this is the only way out for her as gutted as I’ll be. This was one of the few things that made sense to me for the “leak”.

You can’t fault Alfie’s acting at any point, he has been excellent the whole series, without a doubt. I have even posted that I thought he should have been nominated for an Emmy. Couldn’t agree more. Alfie has been simply outstanding from S2…and while the other actors have been in Croatia, Spain etc he’s been trussed up to a wooden cross for an entire season, tortured and mutilated. He deserves an Emmy over any other actor in the show IMGHO.

Maybe they don’t have anywhere else to go, not with Euron in control of the Iron Islands.

The not tactically astute bit I was thinking of personally, was bringing the wildlings into castle black rather than stationing them in the other forts, so rubbing the watchmen nose in it, rather than easing things in slowly. The other bit you mention is the most sensible path and sticks him smack bang in the firing line which is completely in character. It needs doing its the best way and he’s going to do it himself, but could as usual get him killed

This is definitely episode 7. Euron kicked their assess and now the house of cards is coming down.

That’s a great question. Sometimes I feel the north may be overrun….that is if they don’t wisen up.

If there’s politicking up north that undermines Jon’s effort to prepare, then that could bring disaster.

Regarding your ideas about Lady Olenna:

That’s the one part of those dastardly leaks that I believe. (yes, I read them, I’m hanging my head. It’s just that I must have my GoT fill and so had to find out what people think is going to happen.)

I can easily envision Olenna preparing her poisonous escape method way before she’s cornered by Jaime. He comes to take her back to Cersei for punishment. She clasps her cup; he has no idea what’s in it; she starts to brutally taunt him about being a terrible father and a worse King’s Guard. She’ll circle around him as she goads him about being too clueless to protect either of his sons or his Kings, making it easy for her to kill Joffrey right under his nose. Yeah, I can hear her words now. It will be a splendid ending for Olenna, causing a last bit of damage to a Lannister with her sharp tongue. Whatever way her end goes down, Dame Diana will handle it in splendid style, of that I’m sure.

Unfortunately, as you said, nobody besides him is even remotely equipped to lead this mission, personal risk to self or no. He killed his first wight in Season 1 and has since become more familiar with how they operate then anyone. He’s down to two choices here: risk the lives of six people, including himself, or sit back and watch what’s left of Westeros’s armies slaughter one other. I honestly don’t know what to say to anyone who thinks that Option B is the smarter choice.

I am also on board with your theory. Yara being captured has always sounded weird to me: she told Theon to commit a suicide, if he was not able to live with dignity, so I imagine she would rather kill herself, than surrender to Euron. On the other hand, the men who were beating Theon had been with him in the scene with Jon as well. So, maybe Jon said something the Ironborn didn’t know and that made them as mad as Jon was. But then why Podeswa was directing? The only clear thing in this story is that D&D are tricking us in cold blood.

Has anyone considered that the iron born beating the on may be the thing that leads to him becoming their leader, They know what has happened to him, they don’t respect him and they have seen him run, they consider him worthless, but at some point in the beating he cracks and goes batshit crazy. Punching gouging biting ears off the lot.

This makes them realise that he’s broken but no matter how much they punch him the only way to beat him is to kill him. So as the only greyjoy left that they can follow and all other options leading to a quick death, he gets a small and grudging respect and the on gets the realisation he can do something for the men there

It’s he who passes the sentence swings the sword mentality; but Sansa has never shown skills with weapons, (though I like her to use her needle or poison his ass) and the other is it makes Arya subservient to Sansa , though Arya may also want her sister’s hands kept clean so Arya could make it look like an accident .

I’m so glad you said this. It was the first instance of Ned being honorable, Ned using an opportunity to teach his sons, but ultimately, Ned being totally clueless to what was right before his eyes. We didn’t know it then, but there would be so many more of those clueless instances that would end up getting him killed and his family scattered.

Littlefinger may die in many ways. My first preference would be seeing hip ripped to pieces by wights after outsmarting everyone and causing the collapse of the Wall for more chaos. That’s what I think. Lady Ollena is a smart woman and a smart woman would be going would be carrying poison with her all around. The thing that looks off to me in this piece is Jaime. After the look he gave to Cersei in 610 she should be putting him in a dungeon: no tyrant can afford a person who gave such a look and has the Kingslayer’s reputation lurking around. The only explanation I have is that Cersey will be playing on her pregnancy to turn Jaime into a lapdog once again. But such scheme has no place for Euron: how can he count on marrying Cersei, if she is playing a loving family with her twin brother with a baby coming? On the other hand, if she puts Jamie into a dungeon, than Euron can come in, and if she realizes that she is pregnant afterwards she may decide to make an abortion, which would be a rather logical conclusion of her arch of self-destruction.

You are right. The only reason why Theon would chose to live rather than die would be to avenge Yara (and their father) and that might be Yara’s last command as well. So, Theon just like Cersei and Ollena might become another person choosing to fight without looking forwards to survival. This might be important for the end-game. I totally expect Theon to go on some real suicide mission which will have a major impact on the course of war.

there must be a big battle for the throne this season, they have the budget and people are expecting a huge battle, I mean, if we had such a huge production just for Winterfell, it would be a bump if there is pure preparation and expectative and then… Dany and her team are like “you know what, lets do this later”. There is no other option. The Lannisters must die or at least be defeated, they have sat on the throne for 7 years now, it’s time for a change, other wise it will be utterly boring and Dany’s plot will loose all meaning (plus, why would they include maggy the frog prophecy if Cercei its gonna stay at the IT??) ) . Daenerys must take the IT this season. It’s the only logical conclusion. Any other option it’s gonna be a mess. Next season has to be completely focused on the WW and the war for the dawn, we had enough of the political aspect of the show, it has to end this season.

If Lena Headey shows up in Seville on set with Dany and/or Jon, there’s no point of considering your life ruined. In fact, she should be expected to show up there, if KL is set on the path of a public revolt, as I expect. The Dragonpit is clearly set as an arena for power demonstration: it might be a trial by combat with a wight-Mountain or similar. But then I expect something or someone triggering the revolt by killing the Mountain and Cersei’s triumph turning into ashes in her mouth, just like Tyrion said back in S2 I think.

The “political aspects” having to end so that everyone can concentrate on the big war is something that has become something of a fact lately. IMO, we cannot say that it will play out that way really and personally, I would hope that the politics we’ve followed for several seasons and books will not just abruptly end when the Wall falls. So IMO, no, politics should continue to be a central part of the story.

Wholeheartedly agree: Cersei has her own personal wight-Mountain and is enjoying him very much. And if she is ever introduced to the Night King, she will probably see him as a man of her dreams. No way, anyone is trying to reason her by bringing in a wight or a White Walker. And BTW, how do we know that only the Night King can reanimate the dead? We saw him doing that, but also we saw a White Walker of a lower rank commanding the army of the dead in S2/3? So, how could Jon or anyone else could be sure that some random White Walker won’t raise up all the interred dead of Westeros, if they somehow bring him on the other side of the Wall? If I were Jon, I wouldn’t risk that.

Maybe the battle won’t be at KL but I’m sure we will have a big battle for the IT, they are at war, of course their forces are gonna meet at some point, and sooner or later Daenerys and her forces are going to take KL and the IT, for me it would make no sense if they continue to drag this IT thing for another season, specially with so few episodes left.

I’m sick of the arguments that imply Yara ought be captured because “Theon has suffered enough”. He would never have been taken prisoner had he not have been lording it over Winterfell (where he should never have been in the first place) when the Boltons took the castle. He also killed two farm boys and Ser Rodrick. I don’t see why any of this should be Yara’s problem or that she should pay the price of her brother’s misdeeds because he has already “suffered” from his self-inflicted greed.

I hope she doesn’t die in season 7. And I’m okay with Theon dying in a rescue attempt because that is the least he owes her after her frequent loyalty to him.

It isn’t just to do with how strong they are, IMO (though that is part of it). The reality is that Yara can continue the Balon’s line, whereas Theon cannot.

I think the very idea that Cersei is humane or sane enough at this point to contemplate attending the Dragonpit meeting with two of her greatest rivals, is ludicrous. For one thing, how can Dany and Jon trust that she isn’t going to attend that meeting with the sole purpose of exploiting the opportunity to wipe out Jon and Dany in one fell swoop?

For me he redeemed himself for betraying Robb when he saved Sansa .He redeemed himself for killing two boys(because he wanted to look cool to his new “friends”) after he suffered a fate worse that death (far worse than death actually) .He redeemed himself for screwing Yara’s plan to save him by supporting her .That’s it he has nothing else to do except die for his sister and rest in peace. But no he can’t be no one’s leader and no one’s lord. The “Theon” who was meant to do all that is dead and he is never coming back.Ser Rodrick was right about him “Gods help you Theon Greyjoy , now you are truly lost” .God that was a haunting line ,still gives me chills.

Agree – there is also that. I meant that Yara could be perceived as a greater long-term threat to Euron as a result of her ability to produce Balon’s direct heirs; Theon does not have this. In the short-term, Yara is the one that was campaigning (for want of a better word) for ruler of the Iron Islands rather than Theon. Theon spoke for Yara rather than himself, and that will stand in the memories of the Ironborn. Overall, it makes sense for Euron to target Yara rather than Theon

I think you’re getting outrageously confused there between leading house grey joy and leading the remnant iron born still loyal to yara and bound for death otherwise. The first, no chance yet, the second a possibility, and after that it will be an irrelevance, also were yara to die then dany has no reason to honour their agreement, even one dragon would rip through their fleet, and they’re no force at all on land, so a future of rape and pillage isn’t an option

Seeing spoiler pics from set and casting/location info to speculate about is one thing.

But having leaks that purport to reveal the actual plot being gradually revealed through careless commenting is just a whole next level of spoilers.

Keep all the leak talk in the forums. All of it. Most of you are not consistent enough in your spoiler coding, and labeling of it, to have ANY leak discussion in comments section and frankly it’s ruining the pre-season for a lot of people. Take it to the forums (which Oz has fixed, btw, for those of you who were running into glitches) where we have threads where you can post up a storm up about this stuff. People who repeatedly spoil all over the place have been banned before, and I have no problem doing it again. It’s tough but necessary. Thanks!

I just read that “HBO will invest 20 million dollars in the battle of Game of Thrones at Malpartida de Caceres” and aparently Daenerys will be involved. It says it will take 22 days of filming. So we are having a big battle!! 🙂

We didn’t “find” either. It’s not hypocrisy. It’s about not screwing up the pre-season for those in the community who just want to be teased with what can be learnt from filming spoilers, and not by leaks of the whole season. If you want to discuss the leaks, do so in the forums, please 😉
