I don’t think anything bugs me more then when I hear someone say ’This is the next Harry Potter!’. Um, no. Nothing is or ever will be better (or equivalent) to Harry Potter. Thank you very much.

There's a "Hunger Games" craze going around my school and everybody is exactly like that: "This is the next Harry Potter! And it's so much more realistic and deeper!!!" stfu I say.

I don't like it when it's compared to ANYTHING!
If it's compared to LOTR that's epic!
But if it's compared to Twilight, I hate it,
cause HP is faaaaaaaar faaaaaaar better then Twilight :/

I think most comparisons between popular literature/movies is ridiculous and therefore pay little attention to it. Most of the time it's like comparing apples to oranges, there just isn't any comparison.

I'm confident in the superiority of Harry Potter and if anyone else has some delusions or poor taste, that's their problem not mine.

Although with that snarked, that doesn't necessarily mean that those other books aren't good [although some of them are not *cough*twilight*cough*] it just means that they are different than Harry Potter and really shouldn't be compared in the first place. Also the HP phenomenon is unique and it's highly unlikely that any other piece of literature/series of movies will achieve the same kind of fandom.

For example:
I've heard people say that Twilight is just as popular as Harry Potter.
Let's do a basic comparison of box office numbers, shall we?

Eclipse: 114 days in the theater, Worldwide sales: $693,579,566

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1: 57 days [and still going], Worldwide sales: $927,844,000

You do the math.

Gives me a chance to debate (which I love doing). And I never got why it's such a "bad" thing anyway - people compare everything. Why should book be different?

To me, there are very, very, very few things that are actually better than Harry Potter, but I'm always up for a debate. They're not going to sway my opinion in any way, so why not?

It's one of a kind.
HP > Twilight. It's not even a matter of opinion. HP is better. Fact.
I don't mind LOTR or anything like that because they're both successful franchises, but they're just so different, it's hard to compare.

Yes. Effing Twilight. Dont feed their delusion stupid media. Next " harry potter" my ass. I've written better fanfics than SMEYER. Just to show....Harry Potter is n the Classic section at the bookstore and Twilight is under current read/teen fiction. I dont mind if people compare it to Star Wars or LOTR, but then its not really comparing like a contest its parallel comparing.

HP > all. I'll argue it to the end. Most people know that and won't get me started. =P
