Is One Direction\'s "Perfect" Really About Taylor Swift? Harry Styles\' Facial Expression May Finally Explain Everything
by Mike Vulpo Mon., Nov. 16, 2015 6:39 PM PST
You know what would make One Direction\'s single "Perfect" absolutely perfect? Knowing who it\'s about!
Directioners got pretty darn close to finding out the truth when the band sat down for an interview at this weekend\'s Apple Music event in London.
Host James Corden just so happened to listen to the song being played on radio stations across the states. The question that later came to his mind was perfection.
"I\'m reading the lyrics [to ‘Perfect\'] and I happen upon a line and in the song it says, ‘And if you\'re looking for someone to write your breakup songs about, baby I\'m perfect,\'" he shared. "Now listen, I don\'t want to have any bad blood about this. If you don\'t want to talk about this, we can shake it off."
So how did Styles respond to the million-dollar question and ode to Taylor Swift \'s hit singles? He kept it coy, of course!
Sure, he let out a little smirk. Yes, we spotted a laugh during the question. And he most definitely itched his nose. But it still doesn\'t give us a definite answer as to who the song could be about!
"Perfect" is the second single from the group\'s fifth album
that was released this past Friday. The song follows the success of "Drag Me Down," the boy band\'s first single since Zayn Malik departed from the group.
"\'Perfect\' is for sure a love song, but it\'s quite a spontaneous love song," Styles once said in an interview on Nova 96.9FM radio in Australia. "It\'s not one about thinking through too much, being like, ‘Hey, I want to be with you for the rest of my life.\' It\'s like well, you know, ‘This could be fun.\'"
Regarding the songwriting process, Louis Tomlinson told the station, "You write about your own experiences." Styles added, "It doesn\'t always have to be an exact story."
