I Amore - no - I ADORE both Magical Melody and albero of Tranquility, though I prefer Magical Melody. I'm not sure why I'm Scrivere this article, I just... felt like it. If te Amore ToT to bits and cannot bare to see it criticised, o if my long-winded Scrivere style is already boring you, then it's probably best if te stop reading, because most of this articolo is a mild rant about ToT's faults compared to MM and my style probably doesn't get much better. I'm a newbie at Scrivere reviews of any sort, sorry. :P
In many of its ideas, albero of Tranquility is better than Magical Melody. The addition of being able to adopt wild animali as pets, for example, is is a brilliant one. I also Amore the new farm animali that te couldn't get in MM: goats, ducks, silkworms, ostriches... I may have missed some out - oh and the fact that there are shipping boxes in places throughout the island, rather than just on your farm, is FANTASTIC. Especially when it comes to mining and foraging.
The biggest problem I have with ToT after playing MM is how painfully SLOW it is to get going. After the long cut-scene and dialogue with Pascal and the Harvest Goddess at the beginning, te meet the Mayor and then have to go around the village to meet everyone, with più cut-scenes and più dialogue. Then, just when te think the introduction to the game is over, te have to work for a few days at Souffle Farm before getting your own property. Yes, it teaches te the controls, but... it's a real drag. At least Animal Crossing didn't have long cut-scenes with the characters when te introduced yourself to the villagers and worked for Tom Nook. Anyway, after Souffle Farm, te can finally have a house - hooray! The bad news is your character is nearly dead da the time you've finished weeding, meaning te have to walk extremely slowly to that natural hot spring thing, o find something to eat, before te can begin doing any real work, like planting crops. If te want to start befriending any wild animals, te have to stroke them three times on your first encounter with them, waiting a secondo o two each time for your character to say 'there, there' and... well, if you've played the game, te know the rest. It's taking me ages to even DESCRIBE the beginning of ToT. te have to wait until the 28th of Spring (unless you're amazing with a hammer) before te can even get any animals. For days on end, te work part time at places like the carpenters just to kill all the oodles of time te have (and to make some money, which is a nice addition). Don't get me wrong, ToT is an excellent game once it gets going and I thoroughly enjoy it, but it's the getting going part that can be a real pain, especially if te turn to it after playing Magical Melody for weeks on end... which I have.
The only other major problem I have with ToT compared to MM (other than the bachelor choices in my opinion) is the way time keeps ticking when your inside any building besides your house, including the fienile, granaio and the chicken coup. This means that when te have a large number of animals, te have absolutely no time in the giorno for anything else. Oh dear.
MM was just far più enjoyable to start playing, in my opinion. te got going pretty much straight away, putting up fencing around your farmland with stakes (usually stolen ones, if you're too lazy to collect your own lumber like me), fishing to feed your dog (unless te find mushrooms), cooking sashimi to keep yourself going etc. If you/someone else accidentally saved over your file in which your character was married and pregnant (this happened to me recently - it was HORRIBLE), te could probably get your progress back in roughly a Harvest Moon year... yet MM never felt the slightest bit rushed. At least, not to me, anyway. It was a nicely paced game; te could still feel proud of your efforts in the typical HM way as your farm slowly grew and your relationships were built up bit da bit... but it wasn't ridiculously snail-paced. It wasn't like trying to make paint dry with your mind.
I am willing to admit that a lot of albero of Tranquility's characters have più depth than the ones in Magical Melody (but I don't like any HM character as much as Jamie, personally) and it probably has a better storyline and main quest than MM, too... but if te ask me which I enjoy playing more, it'll be MM, every time.
Additional stuff: I never really care about graphics/art style when it comes to games, but if I had to choose, I'd go with Magical Melody as my preferred style, because there's just something so charming about those cute chibi-like people. I think the Musica in both games is equally good.
That's all. Thanks for Leggere - te must have patience to put up with my tedious Scrivere style for so long. =^w^= I just want to say AGAIN that I think ToT is a great game and I have happily played it over and over. MM is just my favourite Haverst Moon game. Feel free to post commenti debating against and contradicting anything I've said, though I'd rather te didn't swear and attack me with capslock. :P But I doubt HM attracts that kind of crowd, anyway. XD
