End of Chapter 16
Once she had the lasagna assembled and in the forno we made our way into the living room, both of us sprawling out on the floor, piles of libri all over. We talked and joked as we did our homework, occasionally helping each other when we could. Yet again I hadn't realized how much time had passed until Charlie walked into the house, pausing to smile as he walked past the living room into the kitchen.
"Hey kids." He said, grinning as he looked from me to Bella and back again.
The timer went off, letting everyone know that cena was ready. We both put our libri away, teasing each other, the age thing coming back into play again. While we ate we teased each other, I added two years to her age because she could cook..and cook good!! She took two years from me because I didn't have my 'official' license. I tried to argue that, but with the police chief there I figured that was pointless.
Bella made a plate of the amazing lasagna for me to take home to my father before I left, promising that she would be down tomorrow after school to continue our work on 'the rabbit.
The drive home was completely different from the drive to Forks, on the way there I was so excited to see Bella that I couldn't get there fast enough...but on the drive home time dragged on, each mile taking me further away from where I wanted to be.
Chapter 17
When I got home I wasn't ready to go to bed, my mind racing as I thought of the many little expressions Bella made when she didn't think anyone was watching. The way she bit her lip, the sly smile that she had when she was being sneaky, the way she smiled at me when I caught her looking at me.
"Hey 'lover boy.'" Quil's voice called, breaking my thoughts about Bella.
"Shut it." I detto as I turned on the porch to face the box auto, garage where I saw my two best Friends Quil and Embry leaning against it, mocking me. "What are te two doing here?"
"We thought we should come and check your work, I hear te got them done?" Embry asked.
"Well...you guys did most the work, I just finished and washed them." I detto as I grinned.
"Yeah, we did all the work." Quil detto as he turned and looked at Embry. "Do te think he told Bella that?"
"Nope." Embry detto as he laughed. "You didn't even mention that te had help did you?"
"Well.." I detto as Quil launched himself at me, mock punching me in the arm.
"We don't blame ya, Bella is BEAUTIFUL! I wonder what she see's in you?" He detto as he hit me again before turning to the garage. "If I were te I probably would take all the credit too."
The three of us..well Quill and Embry checked over the bikes, tweaking a few little things on the bikes before they detto that the bikes were perfect. They still couldn't believe that Bella had gotten me a Harley, that she was going to let me keep it.
They left about a ora later after I promised to tell them all about Bella's first time riding the bikes, I warned them both that they both needed to stay away tomorrow. That she was going to be nervous as is..let alone without people watching her.
I managed to fall asleep a few hours later, my dreams filled with Bella...like every other night since I had met her. I was in the middle of a good dream where she told me that she loved me, that she needed me..NOT Edward Cullen when the sun burst through my curtains, waking me up instantly. I looked at the clock, the bright green numbers flashing that it was 0930.
I lay there wondering if the clock was really right, it seemed like I had just fallen asleep. While I was laying there I remembered part of the conversation that Bella and I had the night before.
"What time do te want me to come down?" She had asked, her eyes dancing at the idea of riding her bike.
"Um...I'm not sure. I'll call te first." I had said, wanting to have time to get the bikes shined before she showed up.
"Sure." She had said, frowning slightly. I remembered that at that moment I was about to tell her the truth, that the bikes were done and that I was ready to teach her to ride her bike..but I fought the urge somehow.
I took a few deep breaths before picking up the phone and dialing Bella's number. It rang three times before it was answered, her voice instantly making me smile from ear to ear.
"Hello?" Bella asked, sounding slightly out of breath, like she had run to answer the phone.
"Bella," I detto teasingly.
"Hey, Jake."
"I believe that...we have a date." I said, knowing instantly that I sounded way too excited about the idea of having a date..I am such a dork.
"They're done? I can't believe it!" She detto after a long pause.
"Yeah, they run and everything."
"Jacob, te are absolutely, without a doubt, the most talented and wonderful person I know. te get ten years for this one." She detto quickly, the excitement making her voice go up a bit higher.
"Cool!" I detto as I laughed. "I'm middle-aged now!"
"I'm on my way up!" She detto before she hung up, leaving me standing there holding the phone with no one on the other end...which made me laugh.
I got dressed quickly, pulling on a nice pair of jeans and a black t-shirt before heading out to clean up the garage, I laughed at myself as I tied a small blue ribbon on each of the handlebars and moved the bikes out of the box auto, garage and under two spruces near where she usually parked. Once that was done I went back inside the house, plopping myself down at the cucina tavolo so I could watch for her.
I saw her pull into the driveway, pulling up to her usual spot where the bikes were hidden. I saw her get out, her eyes huge as she realized what was parked successivo to her car. She was laughing softly as she pulled on one of the ribbons as I ran out of the house, doing my best not to run full speed.
"Ready?" I asked as I got closer, my voice sounding rough.
Bella held one hand up and looked around me, angling her neck so she could see up to the house. She must be worrying about it Billy was home, and if he was if he was watching us...which he wasn't since he wasn't home.
"Yeah." She detto as she chewed on her lower lip, obviously nervous.
I shook my head at her as I loaded the trucks into the back of her ancient truck, noticing that the bikes seemed lighter then they had before...strange.
"Let's go." I detto as I closed the gate on her truck and went around to climb into the passenger side. "I know the perfect spot."
