Chapter 7
"I'll call te later." I detto softly as I followed Charlie out the door and over to his car, which made me laugh softly. "You realize they all think I'm being arrested."
"Don't worry about what they think, we should be going." He detto as he walked over and held the passenger door open for me.
I sighed as I climbed in, noticing that Charlie was being really serious, which scared me. We didn't speak a word as we drove to the hospital, but when we pulled in front of the hospital he paused and rubbed his eyes before looking up at the hospital then back to me.
"Let's go, your Father is waiting." He detto as he climbed out of the car and came to open mine.
We had barely walked into the hospital when my sisters ran up to me, their faces streaked with tears and in that instant I realized that what I thought was a dream was in fact my worst nightmare.
Chapter 7
"Jake!" My sister Rachel cried as she ran and hugged me tightly.
"Rach?" I asked as I looked up and saw my fathers face was streaked with tears. "Dad, what happened? Where's Mom?"
Rachel started sobbing when I finished, Rebecca's sobs echoing Rachel's. My father sniffed as Charlie walked over and placed an hand on his shoulder, whispering something quietly to him.
"What's going on?" I asked as my father rolled over successivo to me, his hand resting on my arm.
"Jacob," My father said, tears welling up in his eyes. "Your Mother was in a terrible accident."
"Is she alright? Can I go see her?" I asked, wondering why my Dad and sisters were out here and not with her. "Why aren't te in the room with her, she must he scared."
"Jake," Charlie detto as tears began spilling down my Fathers face and welled up in Charlies.
"What's wrong?"
"Jake, Mom was badly hurt." Rachel detto as she walked over and hugged me again which scared me.
"Jacob, your mother didn't make it." Charlie said, the words not making sense in my mind.
"What do te mean?" I asked.
"Jake, she Lost control of the car. It went off the road and hit a tree." Charlie detto as he looked into my eyes. "Your mother was badly injured, she fought as long as she could."
"What are te saying Charlie? Is mom going to be alright?" I asked, my voice sounding like a scared, small child.
"No Jacob she won't be. She's gone Jake, she went to a place we can not go...not yet." My father detto as he watched me carefully.
"Jacob, she died." Rebecca said, her entire body shaking.
"NO!" I yelled, my voice echoing down the empty hallway. "No, you're wrong!"
"Jacob," My father detto as he reached out to touch my arm again, but I pulled away and turned for the door.
"Jacob." Rachel detto as I started to run.
"Let him go Rach, he needs to process this and deal with it how ever he wants." Dad said, not making any sposta to stop me.
I ran out the doors, and continued to run for what seemed like forever. I slowed to a jog once I made it to the woods, my legs screaming with every step. I paused at the edge of the woods, my lungs breathing from the exertion. I was standing successivo to the woods, gasping for breath when I first saw it...the biggest dog I had ever seen. If I hadn't know this area I would have sworn that it was a wolf, which would be out of place for where we lived.
I stood up straight, my eyes never leaving the animal which stood where it was while watching me, not moving an inch. I'm not sure how long I stood there watching the animal, which seemed to be watching me...but when I broke eye contact I realized that my body didn't hurt anymore. When I went to look back at the amazing animal it was gone, the woods completely still...almost too still. I was so Lost in trying to figure out where the animal went that I hadn't noticed the group of people walking to me until Embry's hand came to rest on my shoulder.
"Jake." He detto as I jumped, a group of guys laughing at my response. "Sorry, didn't mean to scare you." I looked up at him, shocked when I realized who was with him...the stupid 'protectors.'
