End of Chapter 6
We had just got in the house when the phone started ringing, my father beating me to it. I listened as he apologized for the fires, stating that it was just a bunch of kids who were celebrating. He waited a few minuti while Charlie detto something but when he finished my father promised to keep an eye on the fires and tell the kids to keep it down. He wished Charlie a good night before hanging up and turning to face me.
"Apparently Sam's fuoco can be seen from Forks. Someone called to segnala them." He detto as he grinned.
"Celebrating." I detto as I shook my head.
"Someday te will understand." He detto as he wheeled himself into the other room.
"Dad,"I detto as I followed him. "Why did te have me call Sam and the rest of 'the protectors?'"
"Sam and his group all know the woods better then anyone I have met. I figured that they would be helpful and it turns out I was right."
"Yeah, Sam and his gang saved the day." I grumbled as I turned and went into my room.
I went into my room, throwing and kicking things out of my way. I wished that it could have been me that saved Bella, to be her hero..I knew it was stupid to be jealous, but I was. I wished there was something I could do, anything to make her happy again. The last thing I remember before I fell asleep was hearing Bella's screams o her muttering 'he's gone.'
Chapter 7
I had nightmares all night of Bella being Lost in the woods, screaming for anyone to help her. I ran towards where her voice was coming from but I could not find her, no matter how hard I looked she was no where. I felt the tears running down my cheeks as I ran, I had never felt so helpless in my life. In my dream I ran around a rock outcropping, Bella's screams echoing around me. My cuore was pounding as I thought of rescuing her, of being the one to save her.
I rounded the corner and stopped in my tracks, my cuore dropping instantly to my toes. I froze instantly as I saw Edward Cullen standing on one side of the trees, calling Bella to him...but on the other side was Sam Uley. Sam was not calling Bella, but glaring at Edward a strange sound like a growl coming from his lips. Bella stood there in the middle, looking from Sam to Edward and back until she noticed me standing there.
"Jake," She cried. "Help me!"
I went to run into the middle, but as I stepped I heard my father yell my name. I turned to find him standing behind Sam, one hand resting on his shoulder...supporting him. It was as if it happened in slow motion, my father's head turning to glare at me.
"You are one of us." He said.
I wondered what he meant, but at that exact moment my alarm went off...breaking me out of my dream and ripping me back to reality. I sat up gasping as I tried to figure out what was going on. I realized that I was completely wrapped in my blankets, my sheets intertwined with my legs.
I did my best to untangle myself, finally giving up as I realized that it would probably be best if I just stayed in letto for the day.
"Jacob, I detto GET UP!" My father's voice boomed from the living room.
I grumbled loudly as I kicked my legs like a child until they unwrapped themselves. I ran my hand through my long hair, doing my best to get the tangles out before I got up and got dressed. I threw on some clothes and walked out into the living room, not caring about how I looked...there was only one person I wanted to impress and she wasn't here.
"You look like hell." My father detto as he watched me walk in the room.
"Thanks." I detto as I went and took a bite out of a doughnut off the counter. "Have te talked to Charlie?"
"Yeah." He detto as he turned to watch me stuff an entire doughnut in my mouth, shaking his head the entire time. "You're growing again."
"We're....not..." I detto as I swallowed the entire thing and took a gallon of latte out of the fridge, drinking a quarter of it to wash down my breakfast. "Talking about me." I finished.
"Yeah I know. Charlie detto that she is unresponsive...she just lies in her letto muttering something about 'them leaving.'" He detto as he looked at his hands. "I think it's a good thing that they're gone."
"How can te say that?" I said, a bit louder then I should have.
"They don't belong here." He said.
"Whatever." I detto as I wiped the latte off my face. "But Bella is hurting because they left. I wish I could do something, maybe I should go visit her."
"No, Charlie detto she shouldn't have visitors for a while. She needs time to heal herself." My father said. "Plus, te have school. I'm going to bring Charlie some Cibo that Sue made, I'll ask him if te can come up."
"Ok, thanks." I detto as I thought of Bella and the pain she must be in right now, how I would do anything to make her happy again...happier then she had been before.
