Really I have a lot of favourite songs; some of which I know are popular among friends and family (e.g. "Bohemian Rhapsody" is a favourite among most people I know) but the majority are ones that I don't believe are particularly popular among people I know.
The one that stands out most to me is McFly's "Little Joanna". It's my favourite McFly song and one of my favourite songs of all time, but a lot of people I know (including other McFly fans) aren't especially fond of it. I get the impression it's because the lyrics are kind of strange and don't make much sense, but personally I don't care for the lyrics one way or another and love the song for its melody and chords. It's just really interesting to listen to, and I think I'd enjoy an instrumental version just as much as the original!
There's my problem, likely. I choose my favourite songs based on the music side while most of my friends are very lyrics-oriented. XD
