This is gonna be weird. We go 8 seasons without seeing her dad, now all of a sudden he shows up? I dunno, it's just gonna feel kind of... forced, and like they're trying too hard to wrap Brooke's story up. It just feels kind of phony to bring him in, this late in the game. He didn't even come to her wedding, if there was ever a realistic time to introduce him, that was it. I dunno... whatever lol

What Kelly said. They are trying way to hard and the thing is if they introduced him earlier, I might be interested.

^ Exactly. It's just too late for me to actually care about his character lol. Especially with ALL the other extra characters that they have already thrown at us. At this point, to me Brooke's dad is just another random character that they're throwing into the picture. Couldn't care less about him. And they've hardly even talked about him over the course of the show, so it's not like there is a real NEED for us to see him.

I'm excited. I don't really know how I feel about this actor though. Even if it is a little forced, I'm glad to see her dad. It's about time.

Guys so what if he shows up after all this time. People realize the mistakes they made later on in life; better late then never. It's only fair that we meet her dad, we met everyone else's. Maybe it's just me, but why do Brooke's story lines always get picked on? She got picked on for having a phyco killer storyline, she gets picked on for getting her dream and having a baby, and now she gets picked on because her dad is coming back into her life. Give it a rest already and leave Brooke alone!

^ It's not about picking on Brooke. Nobody is picking on her. If anything, it's just picking on Mark, and his writing skills, and how he's putting this final season to use. It's not always about the character that the storyline applies to. Sometimes it's just about whether or not the storylines themselves are realistic, and necessary. And in this case, I don't think this storyline is either of those things.

It just seems like a corny attempt for Mark to tie up any loose ends possible, even if those loose ends don't really NEED to be tied up lol. Bringing closure to the characters' stories is fine, but at the same time, it should make sense. And this doesn't. Brooke's dad coming into the picture now, after he hasn't been in the picture for eight seasons, and didn't even come for her wedding... is just extremely unrealistic, and forced.

^^^I understand your side to it, but don't you think the fans of Brooke deserve this moment? It just seems like whenever Brooke is finally getting happiness someone has to put a dark spin on it. Like for instance when she had her boys, people said it made her story less beautiful...why can't we have our happy ending(s) for Brooke? I didn't complain when Peyton got yet another pity me story line from Mark in season 6. I love Peyton, but do you realize almost every story line she has been given is made her out as a victim. Sorry I'm not trying to get angry, I'm just defending my favorite character. Brooke deserves a relationship with her father, she needs closure at least.

Yes, ofcourse she deserves a relationship with her father. But why now? Why NINE seasons in, in the final 13 episodes? Why didn't Mark think she deserved that relationship like... 5 seasons ago lol? I'm not saying any of this because I don't like the storyline, for Brooke's sake.. or because I don't think she deserves it. I'm just talking purley in terms of realisticness.

I just can't even see it as "closure", because this storyline, or relationship was never even opened up, or really introduced. It's not like we've seen Brooke dwelling from season to season, about not having a relationship with her father. In which case, it would make sense for him to be introduced this season, and give Brooke that closure. But we NEVER hear her speak of him, at all. So why bring him in, this late in the game? It's like they're just now introducing this relationship, JUST to give it closure. And I personally just don't see the need for it. She had the whole storyline with Victoria introduced in season 5, and their relationship finally came around. And that's great, but I think they could have just left it at that.

I like Brooke, I have been very happy that she is finally getting her happy ending... both with marrying Julian, and having her babies. But this storyline is just too much, IMO.

Brooke has talked in past seasons about how her parents threw money at her and never really cared. Plus in season 6 Brooke found out the reason her dad always ignored her; he wanted a boy. Even if she hasn't said it out loud, I'm sure it's been in the back of her head. Besides who knows what this will bring...he may embrace her and he may reject her...either way she needs a conversation with him. He needs to see what he missed out on. I do agree that it sucks he's coming back during the last season when things are wrapping up, but I'm just glad we finally get to meet him.

Yes, I know Brooke has mentioned her parents, and her childhood in general a few times. But from what I remember, when talking about her parents, I think her mom was always more of the focus. Even when talking on the phone to them, she was talking to her mom. And we heard in season 5 Lucas reference how he always thought Brooke was being dramatic, when she talked about her MOM. I think Victoria was always the center of Brooke's parental drama... and we already got to see the two of them work their problems out. And that storyline actually made sense to me, because it was properly built up, and executed.

I just don't think we've seen Brooke really dwell specifically on her relationship with her dad enough, to even consider this as "closure" for her. Like I said, I feel like it's just now being introduced, like they're trying to squeeze it in at the last minute... when IMO, there's really no need for it. I think the final 13 episodes could be put to better use, and should be spent focusing on storylines, characters, and past issues that really ARE relevant. And I just don't think Brooke's dad qualifies as that. He hasn't been part of the show's story for the past 8 seasons, so I don't see the need to bring him in at the final hour. I don't think his character, or that storyline deserves that spot.

But I respect the fact that you feel differently, and that there are fans who would find this storyline interesting. My point to all of this was that we aren't picking on Brooke, just the storyline, and the thought of bringing yet another new character into the picture. I think it's corny, rushed, random, unrealistic, unnecessary, and forced. But that's just me. I would feel the exact same way, if it were Haley's storyline. Or even Peyton's. You know, if Haley's mysterious third sister, Vivian came into the picture this season, I'd be rolling my eyes too. I just don't think new characters (family or not) have any place in the final 13 episodes. Especially if they've never been of any importance, until now :)
