One day, Paul and Joanna were hanging out with their friends, Ian and Millie. Some bullies started making fun of Millie. She was often bullied because she was homosexual. They said, "Go get hormone replacement therapy, te fucking queer!" She began to cry. Ian said, "She doesn't need hormone replacement therapy! She's fine the way she is!" Joanna said, "That's exactly right!" Paul then said, "But te all need attitude adjustment therapy!" The bullies were stunned. Joanna said, "Look, if you're opposed to homosexuals, that's fine, but don't curse at her and tell her to get hormone replacement therapy. Don't call her a queer, either! Call her what she prefers to be called." Millie said, "I prefer to be called Millie." Joanna said, "There te go!" The bullies left. Joanna then asked, "Are te okay, Millie?" Millie said, "Yeah, I'm fine now. Thanks, guys!" Later, Joanna and Millie were leaving gym class. On the way to their successivo class, they found Paul struggling to his feet. He appeared to be in pain. They rushed to his side. "Paul!" Joanna cried. "What happened?!" He said, "I was beaten." Millie asked, "Who did this to you?" He said, "The same bullies who called te a queer earlier." Joanna said, "I'm going to kill them!" He said, "They detto to me, 'Why are te helping a queer?!' I said, 'She's one of my mates, and she is not queer. She happens to be an amazing person.' That's when they beat me up." Joanna and Millie helped him to his feet and took him to the school nurse. She detto that he was okay, just really bruised. Joanna later confronted the bullies. She said, "I guess hurting one of my Friends wasn't good enough for te ratto bastards!" The leader of the group said, "Come on, Joanna. Have a heart. We're trying to eliminate queers and Friends of queers, because they're an abomination to society!" She said, "You can't tell me to have a cuore if te don't have a cuore yourself." The group leader said, "Well, we beat up Paul. What are te gonna do, cry about it?" Joanna said, "No, I'm not going to cry." She began to count to ten, then she punched the group leader in the nose when she got to eight. His nose was bleeding as he left. This put fear into his followers who ran away. Later, Joanna was sent to the principal's office. She explained the situation. He said, "Normally, I suspend students for this behavior, but I'll let te da with it, because te had good intentions. Still, te should have handled it differently." She said, "I know, but I was really upset. They made fun of Millie, and they hurt Paul physically. My emotions overcame my better judgement, and I snapped." Later, Joanna wrote in her diary, "The only good thing that came out of this was that the bullies don't bother me and my Friends anymore."
A few hours later, Una and Everett were comfortably snuggled up together on the couch, sharing the last of Una's chocolates which lay in the open box between them, as the credits rolled on the movie.
"That was so good," murmured Una, her head resting on Everett's shoulder. "You know - I was looking inoltrare, avanti to your plans, whatever they were going to be, but I was really hoping we'd be able to watch this."
Everett gave a small laugh and shook his head. "I wish I'd known. I could have saved myself all this trouble."
Una grinned. "This year, our Valentine's giorno plans were on me," she said. "Next anno I expect it to be your turn."
Everett felt a warm rush at the thought of successivo year, that Una was so certain they would be celebrating Valentine's giorno together successivo year. But then... of course, Everett though. He wouldn't have considered anything different.
"I Amore you, Una," he said.
"I Amore te too, Everett," she said.
