One day, Paul and Joanna were hanging out with their friends, Ian and Millie. Some bullies started making fun of Millie. She was often bullied because she was homosexual. They said, "Go get hormone replacement therapy, te fucking queer!" She began to cry. Ian said, "She doesn't need hormone replacement therapy! She's fine the way she is!" Joanna said, "That's exactly right!" Paul then said, "But te all need attitude adjustment therapy!" The bullies were stunned. Joanna said, "Look, if you're opposed to homosexuals, that's fine, but don't curse at her and tell her to get hormone replacement therapy. Don't call her a queer, either! Call her what she prefers to be called." Millie said, "I prefer to be called Millie." Joanna said, "There te go!" The bullies left. Joanna then asked, "Are te okay, Millie?" Millie said, "Yeah, I'm fine now. Thanks, guys!" Later, Joanna and Millie were leaving gym class. On the way to their successivo class, they found Paul struggling to his feet. He appeared to be in pain. They rushed to his side. "Paul!" Joanna cried. "What happened?!" He said, "I was beaten." Millie asked, "Who did this to you?" He said, "The same bullies who called te a queer earlier." Joanna said, "I'm going to kill them!" He said, "They detto to me, 'Why are te helping a queer?!' I said, 'She's one of my mates, and she is not queer. She happens to be an amazing person.' That's when they beat me up." Joanna and Millie helped him to his feet and took him to the school nurse. She detto that he was okay, just really bruised. Joanna later confronted the bullies. She said, "I guess hurting one of my Friends wasn't good enough for te ratto bastards!" The leader of the group said, "Come on, Joanna. Have a heart. We're trying to eliminate queers and Friends of queers, because they're an abomination to society!" She said, "You can't tell me to have a cuore if te don't have a cuore yourself." The group leader said, "Well, we beat up Paul. What are te gonna do, cry about it?" Joanna said, "No, I'm not going to cry." She began to count to ten, then she punched the group leader in the nose when she got to eight. His nose was bleeding as he left. This put fear into his followers who ran away. Later, Joanna was sent to the principal's office. She explained the situation. He said, "Normally, I suspend students for this behavior, but I'll let te da with it, because te had good intentions. Still, te should have handled it differently." She said, "I know, but I was really upset. They made fun of Millie, and they hurt Paul physically. My emotions overcame my better judgement, and I snapped." Later, Joanna wrote in her diary, "The only good thing that came out of this was that the bullies don't bother me and my Friends anymore."

The boys' looked sympathetic. They all detto in unison, "Oh, no! Not another tragedy!" Henry nodded. "Yes," he said, "another tragedy." He sighed. "It was the summer of 1982. I had been producing a new record, and I was told that I had a phone call. I answered it. It happened to be my mother." He held back some tears. "She told me that my father had been having health issues, and they seemed minor. One day, he collapsed at home. He was rushed to the hospital, but it was too late. The doctor detto that he had a cuore attack." Henry couldn't hold back the tears anymore. Les put a comforting hand...

"So what happened after te decided to stop being a hippie?" Jimmy prompted him.
Henry settled back in his chair. "Well, around that time I was beginning to get tired of always being on the road. I loved the adventure in my youth, but I started to miss not having a proper home - o neighbourhood, since I knew da then I wouldn't be getting married. I was just over thirty when I decided to quit being a roadie. My travels had taken me to North Carolina, and I knew I wanted to settle there. I was near the ocean which I loved, and it was near where I grew up but not too near - I knew I wouldn't want...

After a moment of crying together, Henry and the boys dried their tears. Henry said, "Okay, how about something happier now?" The boys nodded "yes". Henry said, "A anno had passed. It was 1967, the Summer of Love. Arguably, that's when the hippie scene started." Charles asked, "Were te a hippie back in the day?" Henry said, "Well, kind of. I dabbled in the scene a bit. I grew my hair long." Les said, "I never thought te would have long hair." Henry laughed. "I've got a picture to prove it." He took a picture out of his wallet. Sure enough, it was a younger version of Henry with long hair....

The band gathered round to listen closely, drawn in da the faraway, almost dreamy smile that had come over Henry's face.
"It was also in '65, I believe, on a warm summer's day. She was sitting successivo to me in the stands, the prettiest girl te ever saw. And so excited to see the Beatles, te could feel it. Her smile made te want to smile too." Henry paused for a moment as if savouring the memory of all these details. "I wanted to lean over and introduce myself, but te boys know how loud the Beatles' concerts were. No chance at all of her hearing me. Everyone was cheering as loud as they could...

The boys perked up when they heard that Henry was once a roadie. "We'd Amore to hear about those days!" they said. Henry said, "Well, after I left home, I made my way to Memphis. I'm sure te know it was the birthplace of rock and roll. People did have a hard time taking me seriously at first." Charles asked, "Was it because te looked young for your age?" Henry nodded. "Yeah. I didn't look seventeen. People thought I was più like fourteen, and they were surprised I was able to drive. They soon learned to take me seriously when they saw how I was able to lift heavy equipment with ease. Just...

"I was born in Tennessee," Henry began. "My father was a miner in the coal mines, and my mother stayed home to cook and clean and raise me. te didn't see a lot of women with jobs in those days," he added, as the band members leaned in closer to listen.
"My childhood was nothing terribly unusual," Henry went on. "I went to school, and I was a good student - not superiore, in alto of the class da any means, but my parents never complained about my grades. I went to church and Sunday school, and in the afternoons and on weekends I would play outside with the other boys in the neighbourhood. My parents were strict,...

Introduction

A Wave Tossed in the Ocean had just released their secondo album, and they were on tour promoting it. It was March. It was a cold winter night, so the members of A Wave Tossed in the Ocean, and their manager, Henry, were staying warm in their hotel room. They were taking turns telling funny stories. Henry laughed and said, "I know I've detto it before, and I'll say it again: you're like the sons I've never had." Charles, not really thinking...

A few hours later, Una and Everett were comfortably snuggled up together on the couch, sharing the last of Una's chocolates which lay in the open box between them, as the credits rolled on the movie.
"That was so good," murmured Una, her head resting on Everett's shoulder. "You know - I was looking inoltrare, avanti to your plans, whatever they were going to be, but I was really hoping we'd be able to watch this."
Everett gave a small laugh and shook his head. "I wish I'd known. I could have saved myself all this trouble."
Una grinned. "This year, our Valentine's giorno plans were on me," she said. "Next anno I expect it to be your turn."
Everett felt a warm rush at the thought of successivo year, that Una was so certain they would be celebrating Valentine's giorno together successivo year. But then... of course, Everett though. He wouldn't have considered anything different.
"I Amore you, Una," he said.
"I Amore te too, Everett," she said.

Valentine's giorno had finally arrived. Everett still had nothing special for Una. He felt ashamed of himself. A part of him wanted to tell Una that he was sick but lying to her wouldn't solve his problem. He had to tell her the truth. He proceeded to get ready, and he went to Una's house. He detto to himself, "She's going to be so disappointed. What if she decides to break up with me?" He then said, "It's a risk you'll have to take, Everett. Honesty is the best policy." He then rang the doorbell.

Una had just finished getting ready when she heard the doorbell ring. She said, "I'll get it." She...

“You don't have any tables for that night? Are te sure?”
“Yes, sir.” The gentleman's voice on the other end of Everett's phone was polite but firm. “Most people book weeks in advance for a popolare time like Valentine's Day.”
Everett sighed, thanked the man anyway, and hung up the phone. His chin dropped into his arms on the table. That was the fifth fancy restaurant he had called, and every one had told him the same thing. No one had any spazio for him to make a reservation, even really early o really late.
No special necklace... no fancy dinner... What was he going to do? Una was...

Everett went to the mall the successivo day, trying to figure out what to do for Una for their first Valentine's Day. He then noticed the jewelry store. "That's it!" he detto to himself. "I'll get Una a beautiful necklace. I know she likes necklaces. She has so many of them. She never wears the same one every day." He then saw a sign advertising a beautiful collana on sale. It was fourteen karat gold, and it had a stella, star on it. Una was sure to Amore it! He went to talk to the woman at the front desk. She said, "I'm so sorry. We just sold out." He said, "Oh, that's too bad." She said, "I could special...

Everett flipped the calendar page from January to February one mild winter morning, wondering why something felt più significant about February than it did every other year. Then his eye wandered down the page to the fourteenth, and he laughed and shook his head. Of course, he reminded himself. Most years, he didn't think too much about Valentine's giorno beyond giving his parents a call and wishing them a happy one. But this anno was different. This would be the first Valentine's giorno that he and Una would spend together.
Everett's heartbeat quickened. He had to do something big for Una - something...

Hi, everyone! Antonia here, and as I type this, today is the last giorno of 2021! I can't believe this anno is almost over. It has gone da so fast. Where has all the time gone?

The past two years have been challenging for many people for many reasons. Just remember: crap storms suck, but they don't last forever. I don't know what the future holds for any of us, but I do know that it is best to live in the moment and take each giorno as it comes.

Despite everything going on in the world, it didn't slow me and my Friends now. Some exciting things happened for us this year. In January, I brought my dog,...

Hi, everyone! Antonia here, and this is what you've all been waiting for: this year's holiday message. Without further ado, let's get started, shall we?

We are now in the holiday season. I can't believe it's already here. It seems like we should only be halfway through the year, but here we are, heading to the finish line of 2021. This holiday season consists of quite a few firsts for me and my family.

This is Joplin's first Natale with us. Technically, this is her secondo Christmas, but last Christmas, she was too young to leave her mother. We brought her home in January this year. She will...
