war poems glorify war and war is wrong so no

not all do, some are impossibly moving.

I have read lots of war poems that are really moving.

Some are good. I wrote one or two before :)

I like poetry that is wacky, creative, expressive, quirky... I think that if you want to learn/hear about war and be "moved" by it, watch a documentary and just leave that stuff out of poetry.

I find it inspiring what some soldiers do to support the cause they believe in. I find it moving, inspirational, and it shows us an emotional side of a war, unlike a documentary.

Well, It depends upon the content and message of the poem. I am absolutely against war, but if I'm hearing, for example, about a night at Valley Forge, how cold they are, how their only thing keeping them well at night is the thought of winning their country's freedom, how disease is spreading, I am touched by those poems. But anything promoting ruining another country, killing, doing ANY battle for no apparent reason, that is when I hate it.

I would like to point out that it is very unusual for war poems to support war - I've certainly never come across any that commend war.

In my experience war poetry is generally very moving and interesting. :)

I love all of the critical poems on war....my favourites are Nelly Sachs, Paul Celan, Gottfried Benn,Günter Eich....
