The American dollar's value has gone down exponentially in the last century o so. For example, apparently te used to be able to buy a Pianoforte for twenty-five dollars! (that was quite a while ago, though.) Also, we don't have the oro in banks to back it up! So, if the dollar somehow loses all worth, then we're screwed.

Depends on where te live and the economy, in some places the prices have gotten higher due to over production, which also happened during WWII
