Peace is very idealistic. I mean look at tumblr's version of social justice; they seem to like to eradicate free speech in order to avoid ever being offended. The entire dystopian literature novel genre usually centers around a society (like in The Giver) that aims to force peace upon people but usually ends up creating a demented society with thought police. No matter what you do I don't think true peace can ever be achieved, there'll always be something dark underlying it or going on in the shadows. The difference is that people are simply kept ignorant and in the dark. Korea is a real life example of that. On principal communism is good, but when executed it didn't go over so well to say the least.

I'll take my freedom and free speech.

I agree with zanhar for the most part.

Peace is an awful thing to force on people and I think it has more repercussions than it does good things.
Personally, I'd prefer to live in complete and total chaotic anarchy where I could do whatever I want despite the danger than I would live in a peaceful and orderly place where I wouldn't be allowed to think or talk or do anything my own way.

Of course, neither or those things are good things by any means and I certainly wouldn't choose either if there was a middle ground because it's good to have a balance between chaos and order.

But due to my own hatred of rules and being told what to do or think, I chose freedom.

Obviously both, but if I HAD to pick one...

^See I'd prefer the peaceful and orderly, even if it was sort of stifling, to total chaotic anarchy.

My great-uncle was a pacifist who was imprisoned during WW2, because he refused to fight overseas. I understand that the Nazis were in the wrong and that someone had to stop them, but still, that kind of military conscription pisses me off. In a sense, that's just forcing war down peoples' throats and imprisoning under the pretext of not being patriotic.

I much prefer peace to war, because war has always been about the most ridiculous things - it is never about anything important, it's almost always money, land or just silly principles being taken too far and disagreement leading to conflict.

Also, I don't see humans as being 'free'. We're not free. Not at all. Even our right to freedom of speech is often stifled by corporations and money, if it goes against their common interest. I mean, look at the TPPA - that's what stifling freedom of speech looks like, especially if it gets passed.

Yeah, I prefer peace, even if it's idealistic... which it is, because humans are far too stupid and primitive to actually get along with each other.
