I don't think so Wiccan and Christianity conflict ideologically. One believes in one god and whereas one believe two gods or more and is essentially polytheistic. And most bible scriptures claim you must only follow one god. I guess you could theoretically agree with various parts of both religions but it's a conflicting mindset. But then people have their own set of viewpoints outside of traditional religious paths so there's that.
These sorts of things are way more pliable than people give them credit for imho.
Beliefs are very individualistic and nuanced things, because the human experience is complex and everyone has different influences. It may seem weird and contradictory from an outsider's perspective, but it would make complete sense to the person with the beliefs. No ideology is set in stone and there's no one out there that really really follows an organised religion 100% by the book. It's impossible.
^Just because no one follows a religion 100% doesn't mean Wiccan and Christianity are pliable. Oil and water will never be pliable despite people wishing it to be so. Satanism and Christianity are opposites they aren't pliable no matter how someone's individualistic leans are. It is just not possible. If said person is indeed contradictory in their beliefs, opinions, etc at least have the contradictions make some sort of sense in different scenarios as opposed to having contradictory beliefs for the sake of having it. It's like saying I believe in aliens but I also don't believe in aliens. Wiccan is not the direct opposite of Christianity. Satanism is. But I'd assume it'll be hard to find common ground or ways Christianity and Wiccan works.
They conflict too much idealogical, do what you want as long as you don't hurt anyone vs do what good commands no matter what. Not to mention god absolutely doesn't want you to worship any other good and has banned some kinds of magic like divination. However, both religions are false anyway so the rules can be as arbitrary as you want
I'm basically with 8thegreat on this. In the past I've studied Buddhism, Hinduism, and Confucianism (for a college course). I'm pretty well versed in Catholicism, being as that's my religion. And now I'm looking into Wicca. I kind of want to be well versed. That said I'm kind of just getting into Wicca so I could have some of this wrong.
A lot of the sites I've seen have mentioned either two gods--a god and a goddess and a few say that they don't worship any god at all but rather nature. One site in particular states, "But Wiccans are united primarily by practice, not belief. Different Wiccans find themselves called by different deities." A lot of other sites state similar things. In other words, wiccans have different gods that vary from person to person. And quite a few believe (similarly to Hinduism or Buddhism) in worshiping the self. Wicca is heavily focused on nature as well and connecting with it.
This is how I see them as compatible. Where one Wiccan may believe in the 'Great Goddess' and the 'Great Horned God' some put faith in nature alone and others can continue to worship Gods from other faiths. In this case, the Christian God. While at the same time practicing the teachings of both religions.
I don't know, maybe you can just call that having a Christianity as a religion and a Wiccan lifestyle? Which imo is different than having two religions.
Satanism on the other hand I would say is 100% not pliable. That really is the exact opposite. Whereas Wicca is often misunderstood and mistook for Satanism. I personally feel as Wicca and Christianity have more common ground than people of both faiths may think. But like I said, I'm just getting into researching Wicca and I'll have to see if my opinion changes after reading up on it more. I just brought a book on it and I feel like that will be much more reliable than internet searches.
^That's like saying you can practice Buddhism but if you also believe in god you are practicing both. That's not completely how religion works. But alright since you are researching it please let me know of any interesting finds to support or not support this discussion.
That's why I said, "maybe you can just call that having a Christianity as a religion and a Wiccan lifestyle? Which imo is different than having two religions."
Like you don't believe in the Wicca faith but you believe that it teaches some good morals so you live by that in addition to following Jesus and God and such. Or you really like the Hindu idea of letting go of worldly attachments so you try to do so in life, but you believe in Heaven not reincarnation.
Or even something as simple as believing that what goes around comes around whilst believing in whatever god(s) you believe in.
In other words one is a way of living and the other is your religion. Perhaps you can't be both Christian and Wiccan at once but you can appreciate some of the teachings of one and follow some of those lessons without practicing the faith itself if that makes sense.
So maybe my answer is more of a 'sort of'.
But yeah, I'll let you know what my research shows.
^Maybe so but the ideology do what good compels you to do and do whatever you want as long as it doesn't hurt anyone is a little hard to combine. The others are much easier in that respect.
That is a good point, those are a bit tricky to work with because they preach two very different things. I guess that it would then fall on the person's own moral compass.

People are weird, man.
