The mostra revolves around best Friends CeCe Jones and Rocky Blue, who with the help of longtime friend Deuce Martinez fulfill their dreams of being professional dancers when they each get a role on local dance mostra Shake It Up, Chicago! as background dancers. They have to deal with everyday life, keeping their social status at school, dealing with CeCe's little brother, Flynn, competition with other dancers on the show, mainly the competitive siblings Gunther and Tinka Hessenheffer.
