I saw a "why bother, it won't last" comment on another site about a soon-to-be-canceled show and thought it was weird. Some of my favorite shows ended after only one season, so that wouldn't stop me.
It really depends, but probably not. If I get into a show I get really attached and cancelling makes me super sad. For instance, I started watching The Tomorrow People last year and it got cancelled after the first season.. so upsetting. I prefer to wait until a show has a few seasons at least, then to start watching.
If someone highly recommends something to me that has been cancelled, then I'll probably try it.
I only have twice with Death Valley and Don't Trust the B in Apt 23 and that was a couple of years after they were cancelled I saw an episode of each when I was flicking through channels. I rarely start new shows until they are about halfway through the first season and then only if they are doing well.
