a few months ago I was obsessed and I listen to the music everyday. Not very much anymore

Well, I used to be more obsessed, but certain...other things kind of took over. *hides Sarah Brightman DVDs and Les Mis stuff*

I completely understand JH. In addition to my one all-consuming madness over Phantom, I also have a few pet obsessions on the side. Jekyll & Hyde, Batman (comics mostly), Star Trek (TNG and DS9), Hellsing and Vampire Hunter D (degree of obsession varies on these dependent on my mood), and of course whatever interesting little tidbit catches my attention I tend to focus hardcore on, suck up all the random information I need to feel comfortable mingling with other fans of whatever it is (things like Frank Wildhorn musicals, Dracula/Nosferatu, Edgar Allen Poe) it's won't remain a fully fledged obsession, but I'll still have a special little interest in what goes on with it.

Yeh Eriks stil in my life, and I lisen 2 my cd at least once a day, and the books under my bed incase of latenight PotO desire, and I do watch as much as I can, also i have a random lil habit, cuz they got the PotO adverts on the buses and every time i see one i hav to cross my fingers and say (in my head) thank you Erik (no i don't get it either but habits are habits) but its not like my LIFE (although it was) cuz lik my attention gets caught by lil things, right now its the caramelldansen thingy LOL itso cute! And V for Vendetta too

I'm obsessed with a few other things, but PoTO is pretty much it...

For me, Phantom is one of those crazy emotional rollercoasters I constantly seem to board and end up riding non stop for months. I'm a woman obsessed, and I suppose i'm not afraid to admit it. The books (well, some of the books. Lets not forget Phantom of Manhatten...) The musical, the movie, i'll take it all. It comes and goes in waves, sometimes I will sit and listen to the music for hours, stay up all night reading the numerous books/published phics that are stored in my bedside table ;) It's maddenning, and I know soon enough i'll probably be OCD over somthing else (honestly, my heads going to explode)

Actually, let's DO forget Phantom of Manhattan. That is the stuff of horrible fangirl nightmares, right there.

haha...ever thrown a book at the wall? I have...

Well.....I'm on my 3rd copy of Kay. The first two ended up being "loved to death" from being drug to hell and back and occasionally hurled at the wall when I'm reading certain parts on a bad day. (Yes, I do have a nasty violent streak, however I learned long ago to channel it through inanimate objects and clawing the skin off of my arms rather than assaulting someone else.) The first one the cover fell off, then the book broke in half and I lost a few pages from the Nadir section. So I got another copy. That one ended up in 3 pieces and I eventually lost the first third. So now I'm on my current copy. Seriously. I lost count of how many copies of Leroux I loved to death....The Essential Leroux and the current copy of Kay currently live in my purse. I literally drag them everywhere with me, along with whatever 2-3 other books I'm reading at the time.
As for some of the other books....Phantom of Manhattan very nearly ended up in a fire pit, but I'm far too against the burning of ANY book (regardless of how horrid) to actually go through with it. But it did get it's fair share of abuse. So did Phantom of Paris. I think I ended up scrawling all sorts of really angry theological bitching in the margins toward the end.

I know most of you are going to throw the Holy Bible (aka: Leroux's novel) at me for saying this, but I actually didn't HATE Phantom of Manhattan... *cringes* Okay, so I was REALLY ticked off when Forsyth said that Leroux was inaccurate, but because he stated that it was a sequel to the musical, I didn't mind so much (mind you, I didn't expect ALW to make it into a musical. That's the worst idea in the WORLD) But unless they made Erik into a FOP like Raoul (as ALW has done in the actual musical), I honestly don't mind.

I didn't love it though. Kay and Leroux are the best!
