My mom hits my leg. There stands a red mark, waiting to turn into a bruse. I rub it, trying to calm the nerves. It did no such treatment. "ISABELLA! te know not to talk of the Games that way! Yeah, I know the games are meaningless, but its a punishment for Panem. It's quite reasonable for me, but I don't like it."

Its one'oclock. My mom and I head down to the square where the reaping is. There stands two big glass balls filled with names. Six of them mine, but there are kids that have almost 42 entries. What are the odds of having my name picked? Effie Trinket walks onto the stage. "I have an announcment to make. Me and Haymitch are getting too old to be at these reapings and help the tributes of District 12. So I am glad to pull up the winners of the 74th Hunger Games, Peeta Mellark and Katniss Everdeen!" My mom and Peeta go onto the stage. My mom and Peeta are honorable people. I look in the crowd for Gale. I spot him, and smile. He waves back. My mom walks over to the glass bowl filled with the girls' names. There is a smile on her face. When she picks the name out her smile runs away. Her gaze drops "Isabella Everdeen. Your a tribute to District 12"
