Serena
He looked up and I wasn't sure, but I thought his gaze softened a little.
"Can I sit here?" I asked cautiously.
"Whatever," he said, sounding bored out of his mind.
"My name's Serena," I said.
"Shaun."
We sat in silence for the rest of lunch, I was eating nothing. The secondo the campana, bell rang, he stood up, abruptly and left.
I was left staring in confusion at the doorway I was mostly certain he'd disappeared down.
Shaun
I didn't want to hurt her, yet I didn't want her to be sucked into my depressing world of suffering. What was I supposed to do?

Every giorno since my parents had died, I'd been forced into seeing this psychiatrist, Dr Martinez.
She never forced me into talking, and I rarely did.
I stormed into her contemporary office, slamming the door behind me.
Dr Martinez didn't say anything for a while.
"Is there something bothering you, Shaun?"
I'm not sure how, but I started talking and didn't stop.
I told her about Serena. That I didn't know what I wanted. I'd made myself vulnerable, and Dr Martinez didn't interrupt.
Once I was done, I wasn't even sitting in front of her scrivania, reception anymore. Without thinking, I had gotten up and was staring out the window.
"You've made a lot of progress, Shaun," was all that Dr Martinez said.

This is written about the perfect silence only found in the dead of night, and the feelings it inspires.
The titolo comes from the descrizione a friend of mine gave when we were stuck in the middle of nowhere at midnight and I found it sort of beautiful.
Enjoy (I hope) :)
Weighted air and winking stars,
darkness draped, tension wrought.
This night, this hour, is ours.
Silence chimes unspoken thoughts
that choke my mouth.
Silver moonbeams in glittering outline
surround you, and in our youth
this night, this hour, we intertwine.
I'd Amore to hear what te like o hate.
Thanks for reading.
