I do all (minus songs-- I've tried, but I haven't a melodic bone in my body for music). But I like my short stories.

I'm not as good a storyteller as I'd wish to be, but I do write poetry and songs. Essays are definitely more where my natural aptitude lies.

Gotta admit, I can write essays until the end of time.

While I like to write novels, I find writing magazine articles much more fun and relaxing.

Because I find them the most difficult, I find writing short stories the most rewarding as a result.

Not meaning musical notes but rather either rewriting lecture notes (because that's how I study best) or writing down daily events for future short story/memoir writings. A lot of the time I don't have the patience to write more than tidbits but it also is fun to reread two or three days later, to see my changing state of mind.

i used to write novels when i was little, but i never have time to write anymore.

when i do, its just this little idea that pops into my head and i put on paper as fast as i can, so i dont end up thinking baout it, expanding it, making this huge, long complicated story like i used to, and then forgetting the entire thing and hating mysekf for it.

I write some pretty good essays, and my "articles" and stuff are really good, but I guess I enjoy stories most...

Actually, no. I'm gonna change my vote to essays, because when I totally have an idea that I want to explore to the full I can write one hell of an essay on it.

Just ask all my old teachers from school, they know how I can go on! :D

I used to be always writing 'books' when I was a kid, but now I am less creative, more academic. It is so sad, but if I have a good essay topic there is nothing better than researching and writing a great, interesting essay! I have just finished university and I'm kinda sad that I won't be writing essays for a while :(

i love writing short stories and essays, but my real talent is writing songs, i play lots of musical instruments, but in my band i play drums, most people will say that they are the instrument for the un-musical population but i feel they really help me under stand the music and are important in our singer/2nd guitarist and i composing our songs. i love nothing more than seeing my ideas grow from my bedroom or studio to the stage.

i would write a novel if i had the time but, since im an extremely busy student, i settle for short stories.

i'm workning on a fanfiction, a novel, and a couple of short stories at the moment. I get stuck on one, i move to another.

Im making a script in media for AS, it's called "Something Worth Losing" where a character called Ray Harris is fired from his job at a large advertising industry, but a person called Alan helps him out getting a new job, he finds a job at "PRIME" and begins work the next day, he enters a tunnel situated in Manhattan, the tunnel is called the holland tunnel. Anyway, Ray drives down and appears out of the other end of the tunnel, everyone is gone, he doesn't understand why, then finds Alan standing next to him, he says that he is dead from a car crash in the tunnel. Later on, he enters Central Park and sees his wife and son sitting on a bench.

Anything short (like a short story or poem) is the hardest thing for me to write, just because you have to contain all your oomph in those few words. With novels, you get a few hundred pages to work it out.

I like writing novels best, because I'm writing one right now; I love being able to put my imagination to good use. Like, if I have a random idea, I just try to see where it would fit in to my book, and if it fits, I type it in. I also like being able to read what I've done so far, and feel like what my characters felt at the time. :)

Curryfish I totally agree! I can't keep a story short to save my life! I have atleast ten good ideas in my head for a book or a part in a book at a time. How can I keep things short when there's so much to say! lol

've won some essay contest suprisingly in the past few years, I didn't think I was good at them, but i must be, so I like to write those too, on a topic I know I can elaborate on.

It's a tie between that and stuff for fictionpress, which is basically novels. I'm a fanfiction freak, but people are always really supportive on there and all the hits and reviews let you know that people actually like your writing and you don't have to spend forever wondering if you're actually good at writing. Plus you meet lotsa people on there and they're pretty awesome.

Essays because I have been doing them since first grade so I know how to do them. Essays also let you express what you feel about something too so as long as I can say something about what I feel about it, I'm happy.

Like for a prodject on a movie that you chose. That was easy, I chose Beetlejuice. A little movie with some surprises and fun. Like when the girl at the end gets an A+ the song came on and I got the same note on the thing. So I was please and jolly. I love sayig jolly, jolly good show.

I love fanfic so much!

I used to write little short stories in first, second, and third grade. I would just be inspired by animals and every day life, and write little pamphlet-sized stories like "The Lost Dog at the Zoo" and things like that... and then, when I was nine, I first saw Lord of the Rings... it was my first ever PG-13 movie, and I was blown away. I didn't know what fanfiction was at the time, but I began to write one on my new favorite movie. Now, I didn't realize that it would probably be a bad idea to get it published, but for a solid 4 months, I was determined. I started writing my first draft on little half sheets of paper (my first attempt at writing my stories in paragraphs, too!) but kept making mistakes and starting over. I must have rewritten that story at least ten times when I thought, "Hey, why not use a NOTEBOOK?" And thus my career of forevermore writing in notebooks began. Even after I realized my LotR story sucked, I kept writing other stories anyway. In sixth grade, I did a double count on how many stories I had started but never finished - I was up to 22, and those were only the ones I could FIND.

After that, I began to start writing little, funny skits about me and my friends if we all worked in the same resturant. It was pointless, but fun to do, and I gave it to my friends. We all had a big laugh and then they moved on.

This was also when I started my brief Hannah Montana phase, so I began writing songs to be just like her. I admit it, my songs were hopeless, but I was obsessed about writing meaningless lyrics anyway. The phase died away quickly, but in seventh grade I started the songs up again, which I realize now were very poetic, but not very good songs. Seventh grade was also the grade I began to realize that I was very good about writing editorials about my opinions and things I was passionate about.

Then, in the beginning of my 8th grade year in my Advanced L.A. class, I began to realize that I was good at poetry, too. I was obviously not the best in the class, but other people kept telling me the poems were good, so that must mean something. As for essays, I've always been good at them, but never really liked them that much.

Wow, I just gave a whole backstory on my writing career! I have this thing where once I start writing a comment I can't stop until it's super long, so I should probably stop now...
Oh, yeah. And for writing novels now in general, though. I want to be an author when I grow up, so I still write those stories. A lot. My usual spark on starting up a new book every other day has wound down, but once I get an idea I stick to it for hours at a time... I don't care if I have homework or chores or anything, because I MAKE time to write (even if I'm grounded later for choosing to write over other so-called "more important" things. (: )

This is exactly what I mean when I say I write too much.

I first started with novels, trying to pursue that career, but I had never actually stuck with one idea before I got a new one. I won a poetry contest, first in state, but I had never been too interested in poetry. I went through a song writing phase... didn't last.

Then, I turned my attention to screenplay writing. My uncle is probably one of the best screenplay writers, including those in Hollywood that I personally think he could match up to, if he ever decided to do so. I have spent so much time up to now writing screenplays, drafting, editing, and re-drafting. I proudly have two finished TV pilots, even though I know there is always work to edit! I have decided THIS is what I want to be doing.
