Oh please, you need to re-watch the movie. He is a total playboy who is flirting with every girl around him including Tiana when she is doing her job at the beginning but she blows him off and he shrugs and walks away. Even in the songs, he is singing about having a redhead, blonde, and brunette around him. He is very clearly "getting around" and in the entire movie there is little reason that he would suddenly fall in love with her and decide to give up his previous lifestyle for her. Even more shocking is how Tiana would fall in love with him of all people.
