LightningRed picked The Hunchback of Notre Dame:
Tough choice. Mulan is more fun to watch, but The Hunchback of Notre Dame appeals more to my artistic sense. It has deeper story plot and memorable characters, especially Quasimodo, Esmeralda, and Frollo. They are different from usual Disney heroes and heroines and villains. Quasimodo is "ugly" and misunderstood, and Esmeralda is an outlaw, and Frollo, who should be a fair judge, is actually very cruel and evil.

rhythmicmagic picked Mulan:
My favorite movie. Of all time. I just really love it, it's so inspiring and is probably my biggest source of inspiration. I really love all of the clever humor about gender roles, especially all of the humor that doesn't involve any words and just expressions/ actions. Like Mulan rolling her eyes at what the guys want in A Girl Worth Fighting For. I feel like a lot of the characters are actually pretty layered, they just aren't in your face with their complexity. Even with the objective flaws in this movie, whenever I sit down to watch it, it's flawless in my eyes.
Hunchback I have mixed feelings about. It would have been so good and so perfect if they had just kept those darned gargoyles out. If Disney had let themselves break the rules they imposed on themselves, it would have been a MASTERPIECE.
