I was staying at Cullen's house. Again. I was glad that this time I wasn't prisoner, actually if te don't look at the dangerous situation it was like holidays - they gave me huge bedroom, wonderful Cibo and time to meditate, though it supposed to be lessons "How to use your shield". At first I thought it is useless and Bella's instructions "feel the membrane in your head" sounded pretty stupid but after some time I finally felt something. Shield wasn't flexible as she described, it was più like stained-glass, that consisted of many small parts. And now that I finally found it I had to learn how to stretch it and protect everyone.
"You're doing well" Bella complimented but I was disappointed. I wish this time Jasper would be helping me - he still pisses me off and the anger helps me to concentrate. Bella mentioned that the anger also helped her.
"I don't think she's doing well. She's just a little pathetic human after all" Emmett detto full of sarcasm. Wow, since when he became so bitter?
"Emmett" Bella hissed.
"C'mon, Bella, how can she help us when she can't help herself?" I didn't like the way his words was heading.
"What do te mean?" I asked.
"Like te don't know. You're a mess. te fucked up with your family, your life and even your job" when his words sunk into my mind it was hard to believe he could be so cruel. I clenched my teeth and tried to control my anger but I couldn't. And then I saw him flying across the room and bumping into the wall. Bella jumped and ran to him.
"Emmett? Are te OK? What happened?" suddenly everyone was here, looking concerned.
"I don't know" Emmett stood up looking very surprised "One moment I'm standing while another moment I'm being pushed da some kind of invisible force" he turned to me "Was it you?" now everyone stared at me. I closed my eyes and reached for shield. I felt one part of it vibrating and concentrated on pushing it mentally. Alice was the closest one standing to me and I heard her gasping.
"It's shield! I can feel it" I opened my eyes to see how she tried to push her hand through it unsuccessfully. Quickly I let the shield go, I was tired.
"I can't believe, it's amazing" Carlisle detto joyfully.
"Yes, it is. Now we have not only mental shield but also the physical one" Alice was happy too.
"Volturi are going to be so sorry for messing with us" Emmett laughed.
"Wait, I don't think it is as good at it might look like" Edward was still concerned.
"How's that?"
"If she's a physical shield, we won't be able to hide our plans from Aro" his words made everyone to think for a moment.
"I'm not sure about it" I whispered and they looked at me "I've just used only a bit of my shield, there are some parts I still can't push out. Maybe if I'll succeed in that I'll be able to block out some of your thoughts"
"You're really talented, aren't you?" Alice smiled.
"I think we should contact Eleazar. Maybe he could tell something useful" Edward suggested.
"Who's Eleazar?"
"One of our kind, a friend" Carlisle explained.
"I think I'll take a nap. I'm exhausted" it was hard for me to stand up.
"Of course, honey. You've done so much already" Esme was motherly like always.
"Hey, Lilly" Emmett shouted when I was climbing upstairs.
"What?"
"Sorry for what I said. We just thought that being angry can help you" I remembered how he flew to the bacheca and smiled.
"And it surely did"
successivo morning I was waken da Alice.
"Get up, Eleazar is here" she detto pulling my blanket. I turned on the other side.
"Get off. I want to sleep"
"Lilly, don't make me splash te with cold water" she threatened and I shuddered - it was already cold without blanket.
"You're terrible" I murmured.
"I know" she laughed "And I'm going to be even worse" I lifted my head and saw her holding green dress and a pair of high heels.
"No way" I shook my head and hid it under the pillow.
"It matches the color of your eyes. And you're gonna wear it. I already saw it"
"You can't see my future" I was getting angry. Just a secondo and I'll throw her out using my shield. This thought made me smile. I saw yesterday Emmett and Jasper wrestling and I was sure they could crush my skull in second. It was good to know I have something that can protect me from these creatures. But Alice understood my smile in a different way.
"You're gonna wear it cause I threw all your clothes out. If you're living with Cullens, te must dress properly" and she was gone before I could shout at her. How could she do that? It was my stuff! If I wouldn't be so curious about that Eleazar I would have stayed in letto just to annoy Alice. When I went to living room (dressed in Alice's dress and shoes) I saw Carlisle and Edward talking to a man who was probably Eleazar. I headed towards them but Alice jumped in my way.
"You look divine. I don't want to boast but I have great taste" she seemed so excited.
"Does having a great taste includes not respecting other people's property?" I frowned.
"I didn't threw your clothes. I just didn't see any other option to persuade you. te know, you're worse than Bella was" I wanted to snap her but Carlisle and Eleazar came to me.
"Lilly, this our good friend, Eleazar. Eleazar, this is Lilly" I shook his cold hand and saw his face - it was full of surprise.
"Nice to meet you" I tried to be polite but he didn't answer. He just stared at me with widened eyes.
"Eleazar?" Carlisle noticed his expression too.
"Unbelievable" he whispered.
"What?" I was impatient and he quickly started pacing from one corner to another one.
"From what te have told me and what I feel... Aro would give anything to have her" Eleazar looked excited "I'm not sure but I think she could be not only mental and physical shield, she could be much more"
"Like what?" Edward got closer to him.
"I can't see through shield but I'm sure there's something under it."
"Is it possible for her to control it?"
"Nothing is impossible. Just tell how te find so gifted humans?" Eleazar asked and Edward laughed.
"We didn't found her..."
"I found them" I finished.
When Eleazar left, I couldn't stop thinking. I was gifted? How could I miss such thing as shield for so long? Now it was nearly impossible not to feel it in my brains. But the most important thing in my mind right now was Eleazar's words "Aro would give anything to have her". What if we lose? What if Aro will offer to unisciti him? I don't want to betray Cullens but what if my life will depend on it? Will I sacrifice my life now when I finally started appreciating it? I didn't knew the risposte and I really hoped I won't need to find them out.
