Her last memory was of Humphrey covering her body with his own to protect her before she felt a sharp pain at the base of her skull and woke up here. "I hope he's okay, he must have loved me just like I loved him," thought Kate.

"Who are you, how do te know about Humphrey, is he okay?" Kate asked in a rapid series of questions.
A powerful gray she-wolf walked out of the light and approached Kate, "I am the warrior spirit of all the alpha Lupi of the world. I know everything about every alpha all across the earth; and don't worry, Humphrey is grief-stricken, but he will survive." the old she-wolf explained.
"Why am I here? Where are the packs? What happened to me?" Kate was on the verge of tears at this point.
"My dear, I am so very sorry, but te were killed in the caribou stampede. Humphrey tried to shield you, but he was too late, te were dead the moment te were struck in the head." The old lupo sat down as she spoke.
"Well, I can't stay here forever; I have to help my pack. I need to be with Humphrey, he'll never forgive the eastern pack… what if he tries to attack them on his own?" Kate was howling with frustration and sadness.
da the time she had finished, the old lupo had come closer to her. "Young one, te have a truly noble heart. I may be able to help te after all. Although te will look different, I can give te new life. In two and a half years as seen da the living, the ritual will be complete and te will have my earthly form. After I give te my earthly form, I will not be able to help te locate your Lost love, but I wish te the best of luck on your journey."
As the she-wolf padded off, a bright light enveloped Kate and she once again fell into a long sleep…
