I will try to defend Snow White and the Apple.

I hope to mostra that she was an over-trusting but well-intentioned good-Samaritan who got taken advantage of. The former characteristic is primarily because she is a young teenager who has lived a sheltered and limiting life with little if any socialization. The latter is because she is not very cynical nor suspecting and thus she is più easily manipulated da bad people.

These things don’t make her necessarily stupid, but probably naive and underestimating of evil. All understandable since this is an innocent 14 anno old girl who is good to the core.

All alone, my pet?
>>Why— Why, yes, I am, but—
The… little men are not here?
>>No, they’re not, but—
Mm-hmm. Makin’ pies?
>>Yes, gooseberry pie.

From Snow White’s perspective, she doesn’t know anything about the Queen’s transformation nor the poisoned mela, apple (unlike the audience). Snow White could have suspected that this was the Queen in disguise since she had already hired a huntsman to kill her, Grumpy had explained how she “knows everything [and] full of black magic,” and Doc detto “The old Queen’s a sly one. Full of witchcraft. So beware of strangers.”… However this was all naively dismissed da Snow initially because she believed that “she’ll never find me here.”

All this in mind, the only way Snow would suspect that this “harmless old peddler woman” (=who, admittingly, does look creepy to us) is the Queen is for her to judge on appearances - something which her caring and optimistic personality wouldn’t allow for. In a way, despite our audience assumptions, what the Queen detto about the disguise was true: “a disguise so complete no one will ever suspect.”

Of course Snow White gives out way too much information probably because she’s nervous, honest, and was becoming più open when there was a mutual interest in pies.

It’s mela, apple pies that make the menfolks’ mouths water. Pies made from apples like these.
>>Oh, they do look delicious.
Yes! But wait ‘til te taste one, dearie. Like to try one? Hmm? Go on. Go on, have a bite.

Snow White was making (gooseberry) pie for Grumpy. When informed about mela, apple pies, considering her motherly nature, she might have taken some only because she would want to make something for someone else

Ah! Ah!
>>Stop it, stop it. Go away, go away. Shame on you, frightening a poor old lady.
Oh, I thought I Lost it.

Snow sees an old woman being attacked da her animal Friends (=mostly birds) and it causes her to drop her apples. Thus, Snow runs out of the house to make her animal Friends stop. She probably feels not only worried and afraid for the old woman but also embarrassed and confused for her animal friends. She didn’t know why they were recitazione this way; she didn’t see the vultures.

>>There, there. I’m sorry.
Oh! My heart! Oh, my— My poor heart.

Now this old woman who has just been attacked da small animali complains about her heart. It may not be an exaggeration to Snow to think this as a life-or-death situation. And she cannot just use her cellphone to call 911 for an ambulance. Understandably, Snow White is a good Samaritan. She didn’t see the secret scheming.

Take me into the house and let me rest. A drink of water, please.

Yes, she did exactly what she was warned not to do da Grumpy; perhaps she could brought out a chair and cup of water for her. However, this was all rather quick and, knowing that Snow is so kind, her instant reaction would probably be to help someone da providing whatever they request (if reasonable). Thus she takes her inside, out of the sun and heat and away from the animals. Snow does not see the hidden motive of the apple.

And because you’ve been so good to poor old Granny. I’ll share a secret with you. This is no ordinary apple. It’s a magic wishing apple.
>>A wishing apple?
Yes! One bite and all your dreams will come true.
>>Really?
Yes, girlie! Now, make a wish and take a bite.

In return for her help, Snow accepts what she believes to be a “Magic Wishing” mela, apple - is this stupid? To answer, let’s look at the beliefs in the movie:
--Snow: wishing well (which worked, btw); communicates with animals; overactive imagination (from the forest scene)
--Dwarfs: believed a ghost, goblin, demon, o dragon was in their house; hurting corns could predict trouble; there was poisonous witches brew cooking; a monster was asleep in their beds; females full of poisonous wicked wiles
--Queen: magic mirror; witchcraft that transforms her and apple
--Multiple characters: true Amore is seemingly upheld da all visible characters; except no support for the huntsman. (Interestingly, even the Queen denied Snow being revived da “Love’s First Kiss” because she would have been buried alive - not because it, in itself, didn’t exist)

Doesn’t seem out of place to me. And as such, in a fairy tale with an actual “Sleeping Death” apple, it’s understandable to believe in possible “Magic Wishing” apple.

In accepting any kind of apple, quite a few reasons:
--they are healthy (=at least te wouldn’t expect to “die” from one)
--it’s a thanks for helping her out and Snow might not want to upset her da refusing.
--it’s a gift from an elder and Snow would want to be polite
--she’s peddling and the apple(s) do look good, so why not take one to try out before making some mela, apple pies?

Yes, Snow shouldn’t have accepted Cibo from strangers - but again, she’s just a young girl. (Not to mention this is centuries before “stranger danger”)

There must be something your little cuore desires. Perhaps there’s someone te love.
>>Well, there is someone.
I thought so. I thought so. Old Granny knows a young girl’s heart. Now, take the apple, dearie, and make a wish.
>>I wish— I wish—
That’s it. Go on. Go on.
>>…and that he will carry me away to his castle… where we will live happily ever after.
Fine! Fine! Now, take a bite. Don’t let the wish grow cold!
>>Oh! I feel strange….

A defense for her wish should be simple enough: for Snow, she wants to live happily ever after with her true Amore after having lived as a scullery maid and now living in fear of a murderous Queen ; in-universe, true Amore is upheld da virtually all characters; for the viewer, fairy-tale logic allows for true love. Basically, as the old woman said, “One bite and all your dreams will come”… why not?

and then we all knows what happened when she woke up? Seems like it worked out pretty well! :D

Ah, feminism and Disney Princess. Such a complicated relationship. Now I'm not an expert, especially being a guy but the topic of feminism in relation to the DPs has always intrigued me. I'm gonna try my hand at ranking the princesses in terms of agency, independence, heroism and other aspects to figure out which one of them is the most feminist. I'm trying to expand my Scrivere skills so this is gonna be diviso, spalato into three parts, starting with the bottom four.

WARNING: No Anna and Elsa in this countdown, so let's begin.

Sorry guys, but I'm one of those people who believes that feminism...

Yesterday I wrote an articolo about my preferito song from each DP Movie, today I'm doing an articolo about my preferito song scene from each DP Movie, the only requirement for this was that the song in the scene has to mainly be sung da a character from the movie (this rule doesn't apply to Brave), also the song scene can of course have two songs in the scene

Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs - With A Smile And A Song

This movie has many great song scenes, it was actually a bit hard to pick a favorite, but this one is currently my favorite, first of all it has one my preferito songs from the...

Well, according to my own preferences Mulan is the complete arrangement of relatable and admirable. She's always dutiful, she always tries to please her parents and her society. She often fails at it, but she tries her best. When she loses hope in pleasing her family, she figures she would rather sacrifice herself for her father then see him die doing what she's told. She even does such, to change her society. She takes a risk to have some value to her, which is achieving her own goals as well as helping the people she holds dear. She's clumsy, she messes up and makes bad decisions, but ultimately...

Even though Pocahontas is in the lower half of my preferito DP lista I still Amore her

I Amore that she cares for the nature and it's animals, I Amore that she teaches John Smith all the good things about nature

I also Amore that she's indecieve, it shows that it's not easy even for a princess to choose between different alternatives and I Amore that she gets help from Grandmother Willow and I Amore their relationship, even though Grandmother Willow...

Hey, as te know my lista has changed A LOT, so I decided to make a new article. I just warn te that this lista is temporary and it can change, because, I'm planning to rewatch some Film and because like I have detto before, I'm very indecisive, I mean, really my lists change ALL THE TIME! Also, just to avoid misunderstandings, I want to say that when I mention a princess' beauty/ Canto voice o any other superficial thing like those, it doesn't mean that I judge based on these traits. I won't put a DP higher because she's beautiful, I just felt that since I'd talk about the princesses,...

I should've written this articolo much earlier, but I've been busy with other things so it's not until now that I'll write this article, I Amore all the princesses so my least preferito could change anytime because honestly I don't really have a least preferito princess

13. Jasmine

She's never really been one of my preferito Disney Princesses though I Amore her much più now than before, she's imo the smartest Disney Princess. Anyway, I Amore that she wants to marry for love, how she longs for freedom outside of the palace walls. I Amore that she's adventurous, outspoken, open minded and smart,...
