So I'm going to be really honest with you. After watching Pocahontas 2 and Mulan 2 I really really really really don't want to watch this movie. That's why it took me so long to watch it and write this articolo and the reason I'm only just now doing it is because I borrowed this movie from the biblioteca almost 2 weeks fa and I have to return it tomorrow.
Tonight's rewatch: Beauty and the Beast: The Come d’incanto Christmas
Last time watched: 2000-2006
How much did I like this movie as a kid?
When I was little I loved this movie. Every anno I used to pop this movie into the vcr (remember those?) and watch it every day. I stopped watching it for a while and when I did watch it again I actually felt kinda bored. I still adore the songs though. I have the Natale songs on a Natale playlist on my phone that I listen to every Christmastime.
How much of this movie have I forgotten:
The animazione in this movie isn't as great as the first movie. I know this is a sequel but comparing the animazione from the first movie to this movie it feels like a huge step down.
I forgot the way this movie set up the story da having the characters say "This is much better than last year" "You didn't save Christmas, I did!" Personally, I hate when Film set up stories this way. I know this is a sequel, but having the movie start at the ending and then tell the story just spoils the movie because it's obvious everything works out in the end. And the fact that this movie is a prequel (or is it a midquel?) doesn't help either
And another thing, this movie is a sequel, why did the writers feel the need to have their characters talk about setting up Belle with the Beast and that she could be the one to break the spell? We've all seen the movie and we all know that part, why did the characters need to tell the audience this again?
I know this movie takes place after Beast saves Belle from the Lupi so why are Belle and Beast recitazione like that hadn't happened yet? At the beginning of the ice skating scene he glares at her before falling on the ice and he's wearing his original outfit (no camicia with tattered pants).
I thought Forte had an interesting cgi look, he looks so impressive and creepy and the fact that he's voiced da Tim curry is a plus. To quote a Nostalgia Critic video, "For every one stella, star of a movie he's in, he's the reason it got that one star." I can only think of one o two roles he's played that I hated but Forte is not one of them. He is an interesting sequel villain but I think I prefer Gaston. His song wasn't that impressive either and I think his Canto could have been better. I've heard him sing in Pebble and the Penguin, Muppet Treasure Island, and Rocky Horror Picture mostra and he's a great singer. It's kinda disappointing we didn't get to hear him really sing in this movie.
I still don't understand why the servants didn't tell Belle about why the Beast forbade Christmas. They didn't even need to tell the whole story, they could have just been vague about it instead of making him seem like a Grinch. At least when Beast assumed she didn't know why he hated Natale Forte manipulated him into believing she knew, she just didn't care.
I still love some of the songs. As Long as There's Natale always gets me tearing up a little and always gets me pumped for Christmas, but this time it's making me bummed that I have to wait 6 più months :P And Stories always gets me wanting to relax and open up a good book.
And I'm not going to lie, this scene actually got a laugh out of me:
Beast: What is that?
Lumiere: Oh, it looks like a Natale present!
Beast: *slams present down and leaves*
Lumier: It's for you, Master. It's from a girl
Beast: *pokes his head in* Mrs. Potts?
I think Fife was the only sequel character I didn't like, I found him so annoying. Angelique may have been refusing to be part of Natale because she didn't want to get her hopes up but she was still più interesting.
And as sweet as it was when Beast read the book Belle made him, I couldn't stop thinking about that one part in Human Again when Beast had a hard time Leggere to Belle because it had been so long since the last time he read. But to be fair this sequel came out a long time before Human Again was added to the first movie so I will let that one slide :P
Beside's Forte song the only other song I didn't like was A Cut Above the Rest, that song was a little catchy but it served no purpose. I honestly keep forgetting that song exists because it was so unnecessary.
Oh, and Beast killed a guy.
Movie:
I was a bit bored watching this but I liked it più than Mulan 2. While the story seemed out of place I'm happy that the characters actually stayed in character unlike Pocahontas 2 and Mulan 2
Rating: 4/10
How much has my opinion changed?
It didn't change my opinion much
Would I watch it again?
Yes with my family at Christmas
successivo movie will be the Beauty and the Beast remake!
