Only because of the second movie, her personality is the same in the third movie as it was in the third movie. Mulan didn't change much, just more outspoken and less insecure. Jasmine is exactly the same in my opinion. I think Belle improved, she's more flawed and is more useful. She actually learns life lessons and grows as a character, something she lacks in the original. So she goes from a bland undeveloped mary-sue to a flawed developed character who makes mistakes. I think Cinderella gets better. In the second movie she shows that she's not afraid to be herself and follows her heart. In the third movie she shows she's not afraid to fight for her happily ever after. I don't think Pocahontas changed much, she just got more mature. I think people will only say she did because she went with Rolfe.

Belle and Ariel. It was hard to choose between them for a moment, but I think Ariel is a bit more like her original self in Ariel's Beginning. So I pick
Belle.

This is one of my BIGGEST pet peeves. First off, the 2nd movie she turns out just like her father, which usually happens with people, but Ariel knows better than to make her father's mistakes. But the biggest atrocity is the 3rd movie. Ariel shows absolutely NO INTEREST in the human world. She only has a love for music, while by the 1st movie she's skipping out on a big concert to collect human things. So in less than a year, Ariel went from loving music and trying her darndest to get it back, to not caring about it so she can do the next thing her father has forbidden. It makes Ariel seem extremely ADD and flighty, as well as rebellious just to be rebellious.

I liked her in the second sequel cuz I could totally understand why she was so strict with Melody and everything but the third one....blech

I agree with disneyprince about Ariel.
I expect Ariel and Eric to be much better parents than Triton and to see them repeating Triton's mistakes with Melody made me and my siblings sick!
Pocahontas is also on my list because of how she left John Smith for Rolfe. Then again, she's not the only one in the sequel that got butchered too.
I'm unsure about Jasmine. In the second film, she seemed somewhat dumb and a little mean. (I can't believe she would falsely accuse Aladdin for murdering her father! FYI, he did not! Sultan didn't die, either genius! Jafar was tricking you!) In the third film, I thought she became really calm and patient and supportive which made me forget about the second film. (Although my sister complained about how she became the ideal perfect wife).
I agree with Kataralover about Cinderella.
Mulan turned great too. (It was Shang and Mushu (mostly Mushu) that suffered character derailment).
Lord help me, I watched BatB 2: the Enchanted Christmas. Belle was fine but Beast became too mean-spirited. I thought he crossed the line. He was being mean to Belle to the point of abusing her.

To Pocahontas they changed her personality y she go with another guy, I hate Pocahontas 2 y I adore Pocahontas, that happen to me with almost all the sequels so I think that all changed.

I think KataraLover actually has a bit of a point, but at the same time, I can understand why people would get a bit upset. She does have her moments (for example, telling Beast off and saying, "The only one keeping us prisoner here is you!"), but at the same time...yeah. Half of one, six a dozen of the other, really.

Although I think Beast got it a little worse, really. True, I can imagine he'd be upset (and justifiably so) about being a beast, but let's say there are instances in both sequels where I feel compelled to reach out and slap him -- and not in the good way.

As for Ariel -- her personality is vastly different, yes, but I can understand why. I just wish the people behind RETURN TO THE SEA had gone into her thoughts a little more regarding trying to keep Melody safe.

Jasmine is still awesome, naturally, and Pocahontas...*sighs* She's okay, but I do wish the filmmakers hadn't forgotten what she and John Smith shared. I don't mind if she went with Rolfe -- it's her choice, ultimately! -- but I do wish the filmmakers hadn't disregarded...y'know, what happened in the first film.

Cinderella...*Sighs* Oh dear. Mostly discussing CINDERELLA II, mind you -- she had some good moments with Anastasia, but the rest...*sighs* Oh dear...

And Mulan -- I have to agree with KataraLover on that point too. It's definitely one of the rare sequels that actually feels consistent with the original -- Mulan's just more comfortable in her own skin. (And honestly, I don't buy the "she was too emotional" thing -- she cries *plenty* in the first movie: after the argument with her father, after the masquerade falls and she's abandoned. She just doesn't let it overwhelm her -- and she doesn't do it in MULAN II either. "Losing Shang will not be meaningless. No matter what it takes, I'm finishing this mission.") Honestly, my only complaint there is with Mushu, and TBF, I heard some arguments that it wasn't his pedestal he was scared of losing -- it was his dearest friend. Which makes more sense, I guess.

They are all very botchered, with the exception of Jasmine. I think Belle gets it the worst, because she gets changed from a strong woman who DOESN'T take the crap the Beast is throwing at her, to this nice little wify who constantly tries to fix him. It's an insult to all females out there.

I haven't seen the Aladdin sequels so can't comment on Jasmine & have only seen parts of Enchanted Christmas and from what I saw I didn't like Belle, she seemed more "cutesy" and girly to me.
Mulan is okay from what I remember in Mulan 2, Cinderella is meh in the second and even though she's basically a completely different character in Twist in Time, her character wasn't butchered- she was great.
Pocahontas had the same personality in both movies to me, just a different taste in certain men. Ariel is just *awful* in the second, okay in the third.

Mulan in the sequel is a totally different character for me. What I LIKE about Mulan in the original movie is that she DOES respect tradition, that she DOES understand that sometimes the personal needs have to take second place. Yes, she breaks the tradition there too, but she does it to safe a life, and her actions are good for the society as whole because she is healthy and her father is not. In the second movie she readily tramples all over the rules of society, and risks starting a war without a second thought, because of the love fantasies of three princesses. I'm not saying that it's totally out of character to question the tradition, but hell, she barely has a second thought about it, or considers the consequences.

And Cinderella - I don't want or need her to be some sort of action girl, she was fine as she was. (And her actions in Cinderella 2 are just stupid).

Belle becomes a woman who puts up with a completely abusive, manipulative Beast in the sequels. In the original movie, the Beast turned nice on the same exact night Belle showed up. She didn't spend weeks walking around eggshells trying to please the abusive psycho.

I don't know if you've noticed but I'm already aware that Jane(along with other sequel characters) aren't very popular. Mostly the reason for that is because certain people are so biased they they judge them just because they're from sequels. Also in case you haven't noticed one of my closest friends on fanpop (pretty_angel92) has a death passhion for Ariel. So I already know how to respect those who don't like Ariel. It's when people like you make her sound like some heartless monster who doesn't care AT ALL about her family and is a complete mindless idiot that I get into a fight. Yeah, Ariel's Beginning is just a stupid movie in general. Anyway, I actually think Ariel seems like a sweetheart of a mother! I think she's a doll in the second movie. A lot of parents keep dangerous facts out of their children's lives to protect their carefree childhood, not telling Melody that there was an evil psycho woman hunting her down was a good move in my opinion. Like why on earth would Ariel want to burden a young kid with something that scary? And she was going to tell Melody the truth when she was thirteen, which is still pretty young, so it's not like Ariel when twenty years deceiving her daughter or something. She had good reason. Belle is SUCH a loser in The Enchanted Christmas and Magical World. What happened to the real Belle I'll never know. But the scene where the Beast throws her into a dingy dungeon when she's freezing from the ice water already and then just forgives him without a second thought when he apologizes a few hours later...that was SO messed up. Belle is a TERRIBLE role model in the BATB sequels, which is ironic because she's one of the best role models in the original.

Yeah two things I wish Ariel's Beginning had was explaining Ursula getting banished and shown more of Ariel with her love for humans.

I agree with KataraLover on Ariel's Beginning. I wish they have shown the reason of Ursula's banishing and when Ariel first discovered her love for humans. That would have been great for a prequel.
