What's the difference between emo and goth?

emo was originally a nickname for "emotive hardcore" (type of music), but has evolved into meaning "emotional" because it was misinterpreted, since fan of this Musica were ususally known for being a bunch of depressed-self-harming-teens with too much free time. It's all stereotypical. But this is what it's known for now. An emo person (like I detto stereotypical) would be very depressed, hate the world, including themselves and probabl cry all the time. They've even stereotyped and emo style. Usually "emo" kids dress in skinny jeans, dark colori (but not all black), band tee shirts, and chucks. But, like I detto about 5 o so times. IT'S ALL STEREOTYPICAL!!! And it did originally mean "emotive hardcore". (and if some one dresses like that it doesn't mean they're gonna go suicidal!)
The word "gothic" was originally used to descibe works of art that were "dark", which is the meaning, hence how it now descibes people we call "goth".
Gothic is now used as an adjective is ususally used to discribe people who wear all, o mostly black. They're usually gloomy. And people think that they do some sort of devil worship. They're sometimes depressed, but everyone can get depressed, so that doesn't really count.
Gothic style is (like I said) all o mostly black, heavy eyeliner, black o odd colored hair. This too can all be stereotypical. Like te can dress "goth" and not worship the devil. te can say you're goth and not worship the devil. There's a goth style Musica too.

emo is someone who is depressed and suicidal.
goth is when te dress in almost all black.

with the kids these days there is no such thing as an emo, there mostly douchebag greenday innamorati o just screamo fagats that consider themselves emo because they listen to screamo, and with goths there just douchebag posers that dress "gothic" and tells people "yeah im weird and gothic" it just pisses me off. well i just gave te the descrizione of emos and goths in this generation.

I think goth is the look, & sort of how te act, but not completely. emo is the look, & cutting yourself & stuff like that. Sorry to anyone if i have this wrong, just what i think. I dont think i have it right at all, actually, so no offense to anyone.

goth and emo are very diff and emo is not where te cry all the time o cut o hate the world and your self. In fact emo is where te dress how te like even if no one else likes it, o te listen to Musica that no one has heard of and if it becomes listened to più we dont stop playing.most goth people wear the following colori black, dark blue, dark purple, and green {any shade of green it dont matter} they worship satan and evil spirts even tho they are not bad themselfs most are mean in till te get to know them. Emos where mostly black and te dont want to get us mad it will end badly for who ever wants to fight us o mess with our friends. Im a emo 13 anno old in middle school and most emo and goth kids dont get along so be very careful on what te call poeple. Theres also badasses they wear a lot of chains oro black and silver. they wear a lot of leather and listen to hard rock most of the time. they cuss alot and arent afraid to fight anyone.
