Let me start da saying that I can easily develop a strong connection with fictional characters. I’m not sure why that is, but I suppose that’s what makes me a good writer. Because I can put myself in their shoes, see things from their point of view. So, when something happens to one of those characters I can be quite upset about it. I know it’s not real, but it feels real.
I’ve liked Debra Parker from the get go. I know a lot of people suspected her to be one of Joe’s followers, but I never doubted her innocence. Why did so many people think she was a follower? Because she gave Joe the Edgar Allen Poe book? Oh My God! Quick! Alert the media! Maybe that was enough for 70% of the fan to think she was bad, but I don’t judge so quickly. And I would think that after the penultimate episode, when she was buried alive, she would have been exonerated, but no, people still believed she was on Joe’s side.
Turns out I was right to trust her, but that’s really worth nothing now. I can’t believe the writers killed her off. She had so much potential. Episode 1x06 ‘The Fall’ opened a door to so many possibilities. The giorno before yesterday I started the preparation for my The Following fan fic and as I was Scrivere the ideas kept piling up. If a 23 anno old girl can come up with a story, then why can’t a group of professional writers?
Unfortunately her death can’t be made undone. This isn’t Supernatural where they can revive anyone and anything da making a deal with the Devil. And this isn’t The Vampire Diaries, either, where te can shove a Gilbert ring down your finger, turn into a vampire o come back as a ghost. Debra Parker is dead and she’s not coming back. The only way to keep her character alive is through fan fiction.
