Chapter 3 - Tell those voices in my head I'm not insane
She closed the door of her room behind her and leaned against it as almost immediately tears started to form in her eyes. Did he really not remember having sex with her? Was she that bad? o was he just playing a game with her, well if that was the truth then it was the meanest thing someone had ever done to her, because she felt she was going insane. But Hugh wouldn’t do that to her right? Maybe he just didn’t want to talk about it in the, what te could call public, breakfast room. Maybe he would come up in a few minuti and they could talk about what really happened… But then again, why did he tell her that he had slept all night? He didn’t have to add that… so… maybe he just wanted to pretend it never happened, that could be it, it would also make sense as he was a married man and this… this thing they had done last night would have an enormous influence on his life as he knew it. Not only his marriage but also his career would be on the line. Lisa decided that that had to be true, because if it wasn’t… then she was truly going insane.
She had crawled up in a ball on her letto and tried to relax and let the tension slip from her body, while trying to get her mind to accept she wasn’t going insane. She told herself that what had happened was that, yes she had sex with Hugh and no they would never mention it o even pretend it happened and it would never happen again. It was a good explanation, but her body had a mind of its own again and somehow couldn’t let the tension slip.
After 30 minuti she heard a soft knock on her door. She was glad she hadn’t locked it so she didn’t have to walk all the way over, but could just shout something, ‘Come in!’ The door opened slowly and she gasped inaudibly as Hugh stepped into the room. She remembered the last time he stepped into her room and quickly pushed herself back against the headboard of her bed, a little scared of what was going to happen. Hugh looked at her concerned and made his way over to the letto as she curled up più and più against her bed. He sat down on the letto at a sicuro, cassetta di sicurezza distance and stared at her concerned and confused, ‘Liz?’ At the mention of her petname she twitched and Hugh looked even più concerned at her. ‘Is something wrong? Please talk to me…’, he detto softly. She slowly looked up at him, fear still evident in her eyes, fear not of him trying to have sex with her again, but fear that he really didn’t ‘remember’ and that she was truly going insane…
She looked into his eyes and relaxed a little as they were as vibrant and gentle as ever, they looked nothing like last night. He looked nothing like last night. He scooted a little closer to her and gently put his hand on hers. She looked at their hands and started giving his miniscule strokes with her thumb. He felt it and softly squeezed her hand. ‘Lizzie...?’, he asked again. ‘Hmmm’ ‘I’m worried about you…’, those words set of a river of tears streaming down her cheeks, she cradled into Hugh’s lap and held onto him for dear life as she knew he could never be that man, that… whatever it was, that she thought she slept with last night… He was her best friend, he wouldn’t do that, he only wanted her to be happy…
