So I decided to myself to only 2 Within Temptation songs o this lista would be dominated da only Within Temptation. After each explanation I'm going to state my preferito part and my preferito line--favorite part being the part I find most pleasing to the ears & preferito line being the most beautiful to read.

Honorable Mentions: All Summer Long (Kid Rock), Games For Girls (Say Lou Lou), Something Going On (Frida), and Last Man Standing (Helena Bonham Carter).

25. All The Things She detto (TATU): I couldn't not add this song. I was just so into this song in like 6th grade. It was one of those songs that I heard once and couldn't find, but then stumbled across on YouTube one giorno and was so excited. I would listen to this song in reverse and listen to all the remixes. I was a Yulia fangirl and I loved the LGBT theme. It's such a shame the two disbanded. The message itself is pretty powerful; it kind of covers that confusion and confliction that may o may not come with homosexuality. The longing to be in a place where te won't be judged ('I'm in serious shit, I feel totally lost' and 'Want to fly to a place where it's just te and me nobody else so we can be free'). It really is a wonderful song and it was my first sort of exposure to the LGBT community. I was 11 o so when I found it. This song kind of played a role in getting me comfy with homosexuality (as before hearing the song and seeing the video I don't recall anyone ever explaining the concept to me--I had gay neighbors but my mom just told me that they were two men living together). This song was an eye opener. And I feel like that's so important.

preferito Line: Wanna fly her away where the sun and rain come in over my face, wash away all the shame.

preferito Part: This is not enough Ya Soshla S Uma - Ma! This is not enough.

24. design Your Universe (Epica): This is da far my preferito Epica song. It's just such an intense song, I could ride into battle listening to it. This song is why Epica is called Epica. I don't really have the memory ties to this song that I do with All The Things She Said, but it's a wonderful song no less. This song is also great like ATTSS in the light that it has a powerful message; if we want change in the world, we have to make it. "We can't undo what we have done so mostra us now what we've become confront us with our viciousness and our weakness we can't evade our destiny so mostra responsibility for we all surely have a sense of our consciousness." Basically Simone is saying 'hey we did this, let's own up and fix it.' And we have the power to do so. This is a message I can really respect. Not to mention it's vocally stunning especially in the end when it goes all staccato, soft, and quite and the Pianoforte plays Simone out with this tinkling Musica box melody...hell yes!

preferito Line: We can't undo what we have done so mostra us now what we've become.

preferito Part: We can't evade our destiny so mostra responsibility for we all surely have a sense of our consciousness.

23. Walking Paranoia (Mutemath): I like this song because I feel like it's got sort of an interesting theme and I can sort of related to the part about being walking paranoia. Though I can't really relate to lines like 'Jesus is coming back gonna catch me at the porno rack' o being on Hell's highway. However I do enjoy the theme; I think it could be a jab at those who take religion too seriously (believe me I'm not trying to bash anyone--I'm a Catholic myself) o it is about just being human and having human desires that conflict with religion. Therefore the walking paranoia is that fear of going to Hell for making wrong choices. I'm going to be honest and say I didn't really follow the lyrics closely until this articolo so these lyrics weren't what I initially thought they were lol. But no less I think it's another nifty theme and I think the chorus is very catchy...and I really just Amore the complessivamente, generale beat.

preferito Line: Say your prayers o burn and rot gotta sposta fast when you're on the spot.

preferito Part: Oh oh oh oOoOoOooH Ahhh-I am on hells highway cause I'm walking paranoia.

22. Guilt Trip (Nega): This is one if my all time preferito J-Rock songs. Though I don't speak Japanese so I can't say anything for the lyrics o message of the song (that detto I just picked out lyrics that sounded cool for preferito line). I really Amore how throughout the entire song there's this sort of somber mellow atmosphere and then right at the end he just starts screaming. What a way to end the song!

preferito Line: Nani o nageki nani o naki aganau no ka.

preferito Part: Mune ni nagasu guren no namida kono koe to nageite.

21. Snow Blind (Au5): This is a song a found just recently. It's another song that's message I can really get behind; the first lines are 'I'm running away from the past I left behind, looking for risposte but I'm blinded da the light' along side 'Just for tonight let your thoughts be free just for tonight won’t te come with me' is about letting go and starting anew...about taking risks and living life to the fullest. On superiore, in alto of that, the vocals are very beautiful soothing and pleasing to listen to. Which is kind of a direct contrast to the up beat basso and beats in the back ground. This song is amazing in it's way of evoking visuals, though the visuals I get have nothing to do with the song lol.

preferito Line: I'm running away from the past I left behind, looking for risposte but I'm blinded da the light.

preferito Part:Just for tonight let your thoughts be free, just for tonight won’t te come with me, just for tonight let the lines get blurred Just for tonight.

20. Klapp Klapp (Little Dragon): I Amore this song for the catchy beat and the vocals. It's something I can sing along to something that I find getting stuck in my head often. Yukimi's vocals are very unique. Near the end at the 'do te want it' line I Amore how Yukimi worked the auto-tune. She used it with such craft and made her already nifty sound even più so. The song actually has a very strange and morbid meaning though; it is speculated that the song is about a girl with schizophrenia whose voices are telling her to kill herself. I think it takes some nerve to sing about something so controversial and I can respect that.

preferito Line: The spirits blow around like a hurricane whip.

preferito Part: Do te want it? Do te want it? Do te want it? Do te want it? Do you? Do you? Do te (she says)?

19. secondo (Dazzle Vision): This song is another one of my preferito J-Rock songs. There is a lot of emotion put into it. One part features the vocalist doing something akin to laughing and crying at the same time. It's crazy amazing. It's one if those songs that's intense and easy to headbang to. I read the English translation of the song; I can't say that it's accurate (nor can I say it isn't) but from what I gather the reason the song is called secondo is because the vocalist is her crush's secondo choice. In the song she talks about how if she knew it was going to go down like that she wouldn't have fallen in Amore in the first place.

preferito Line: Sabishisa wo homete kureru no nara dare de mo ii sabishisa wo keshite kureru no nara nan demo ii

preferito Part: ...Ano onna nante inaku natte shimaeba ii noni

18. Harley Quinn (Anna Murphy): Despite the name of the song (and whom it's actually about) it actually really reminded me of Bellatrix Lestrange, and that's what drew me in initially. On superiore, in alto of that it's vocally beautiful. Anna has a very wonderful soprano voice. I wish she had released a physical album instead of a digital one as all of her songs are pleasing to the ears.

preferito Line: How d'ya do, o darling as I came for te now put on me a smile I'm your lady, I'm crazy

preferito Part: All sense gone, I never thought I'd kill someone, te see, I really try but now maybe I'm crazy.

17. All Seems Lost (Meden Agan): I Amore this song in how it combined rock and opera. I've always been a fan of operatic soprano vocals and Maya's are just so powerful especially going into the chorous. The Musica video is also a wonderful addition as well. The symbolism in this song is very stellar as well. Over all though I just really Amore the lyrics each of the lines are pretty nifty in imagery.

preferito Line: One più giorno I walk towards the memories of old a path that never ends and makes my cuore so cold.

preferito Part: But now all seems Lost at this glorious dying day.

16. Faded (Zhu): What can I say about this song? It's really catchy. I like the vocals the way they are breathy and muffled combined with the synthesizer creates for a very unique sound. The message of the song is pretty clear the dude/chick (the vocalist actually chose to hide his identity wanting to keep the focus on his Musica alone, which is pretty cool) is high and wants to go home to whomever it is he/she is speaking of. I really can't pick out a preferito line o part as the only lyrics are "Baby I'm wasted all I wanna do is drive home to te baby I'm faded all I wanna do is take te downtown." So these lyrics win da default.

preferito Line: N/A

preferito Part: N/A

15. One più Time (Fractured): This is another song I just think is really catchy. Fractured is just a very underrated band. I have to admit, if the song is good, I'm a sucker for synthesizers. And what Fractured did with they synthesizers in this song was pretty impressive. Electronic Musica is just something I enjoy and this song is no different.

preferito Line: Wasted time is all I have left, the broken promises I kept oblivious to you, oblivious to me te can't handle reality.

preferito Part: One più time emptiness inside,
One più time I'm left living in a lie.

14. Can te Hear Me (The Lovecrave): Not gonna like, I just Amore Francesca's voice. It's just so different. Her voice is actually kind of what makes this song for me; she gives it a sense of emotion...a sense of desperateness. Plus it's simply a catchy and enthralling tune. It's sort of dark in a way and in that sense it's an intriguing song.

preferito Line:I hear te laughing as te say "nobody makes it anyway."

preferito Part: te think te can sell all the tears that I bleed te don't know how it's killing me can te hear me?
13. Over The Hills And Far Away (Nightwish): Between the vocals the instruments and the story, this song is all around kickass! First and foremost Tarja Turunen everyone! This woman is amazing and I adore her operatic vocals. Alongside synthesizers, I Amore me a good high note. Tarja never fails to satisfy. My preferito part 'One giorno he'll know the taste of freedom over the hills and far away, she prays he will return one giorno as sure as the rivers reach the seas, back in his arms he swears she'll be.' Is my preferito part for a reason. I think this part was the most vocally astounding; it's sung at a slower tempo, the instruments cut out for a bit and te got to hear the vocals in their full glory--basically it's the songs breakdown. Not only did Tarja do a phenomenal job, but the guys did too, it was harmonized and just wow. And that's just one part of the song. The lines following Tarja sings at an even higher melody and...eargasm! And I cannot forget that incredible chitarra solo. That was love. And of course I Amore a song that tells a story. And this song right here is the definition of telling a story through music. It was like an old folk tale about a man who got arrested for theft. What a unique thing to sing about too.

preferito Line: He knew that it would cost him dear,
but yet he dare not say where he had been that fateful night, a secret it must stay.

preferito Part: One giorno he'll know the taste of freedom over the hills and far away, she prays he will return one giorno as sure as the rivers reach the seas, back in his arms he swears she'll be.

12. Now And Forever (Xandria): This song is another one that just had me captivated. The breakdown was enchanting. Imma drop the eargasm bomb again because it was just that awesome. Much like Over The Hills And Far Away, the instruments slowed, the vocals slowed, a sort of chorus sang out. Legit, it was like a choir of angels, this is the song that plays when you're on your way to Heaven. Like as you're ascending te hear 'Now & forever, now & forever (Now & forever) Fly, fly, now & forever (Now & forever)
Now & forever we will fly now & forever.' And then after that the your ears are graced with another wonderful chitarra solo and it's just...omg. This song is a Amore song it's about someone who'd go to great lengths for her lover...that is so apparent, I mean if you're Canto with such aw, that's some strong love!

preferito Line: I climb the eye of the hurricane when the winds are whispering your name.

preferito Part: Now & forever, now & forever (Now & forever) Fly, fly, now & forever (Now & forever)
Now & forever we will fly now & forever.

11. Call Of The Mountains (Eluveitie): Call Of The Mountains is my preferito Folk Metal song. This song is the song I'd play if I were to go on some Medieval quest. From what I gather the song basically speaking of the voice of nature. Which is a really neat theme. Like in her song Harley Quinn, Anna Murphy's vocals are always something to marvel at. And with the instruments of Eluveitie, the song is a wonderful work of art up until the very last part; a choir of children chanting in what sounds to be another language. Beautiful, beautiful song.

preferito Line: Against the waves, with our swords in our hands against the sea, with our backs to the walls.

preferito Part: A cry rang on in the sibilant winds a behest, the outcry of the cranes.

10. Mummers Dance (Loreena McKennitt): For starts, this song is a childhood song. We'd be in the car for an ora and my sister and I would just ask my dad to repeat the heck out of it (alongside Walk Like and Egyptian and Steal My Sunshine) back when we thought songs could repeat themselves if we just chanted repeat at the radio...turns out it was just my dad hitting the button. I was kind of distraught when I found this out...but that's besides the point lol. Memory attachments aside this song is a masterpiece. If you've never listen to Loreena, she is astounding. For a while I kind of forgot about the song, one giorno I was listening to childhood Musica and I remembered it; so glad I did because I don't think I fully appreciated it for what it was when I was little. I am so big on medieval/fantasy music. If te asked me to choose one song to capture a medieval atmosphere, I'd choose this one. Like this is the song faeries dance to in the forest at night. The song fantasy humans dance around a fuoco at a fayer to. The instruments are so simplistic but that's what adds to the magic--makes it feel so...so true to it's theme. Above all else, aside from the lyrics of song #1, Murmurs Dance has my preferito lyrics. It was so, so, so, hard for me to just pick one preferito line in this one because they were all freaking awesome. All had great imagery. All were key in telling the story. From the opening verse; 'When in the springtime of the anno when the trees are crowned with leaves when the ash and oak and the birch and yew.' to 'The songs of birds seem to fill the wood that when the fiddler plays all their voices can be heard long past their woodland days.' to the chorus, this song is just such gratifying listen. When hearing these lyrics I'm either picturing that fairy party o the budding of a new spring dawn. I am so glad this song is a thing!

preferito Line: When owls call the breathless moon in the blue veil of the night the shadows of the trees appear amidst the lantern light.

preferito Part:The songs of birds seem to fill the wood
that when the fiddler play.

9. Sleep Walkers Dream (Delain): This song is just so wonderful. It's very soothing, especially the high notes. I could use it as a lullaby. Like I can use this as a comfort song. I really Amore the meaning "close your eyes for the night is falling fear no dark for it's warm and safe" is probably my preferito part of the song as I borderline fear the dark and that line in particular is like 'hey it's okay, the dark is fine.' Likewise with the lines 'You don't have to be afraid a tear is only water a sigh is only air whenever te feel haunted the truth lies out there.' There's just something about this entire song that brings me comfort. And that's just the literal meaning. Another way I personally interpret this song is that it's about death--more over accepting death as a natural thing that doesn't have to be scary. That interpretation coming from the line about the dark being sicuro, cassetta di sicurezza and warm. Another interpretation is that it's about using dreams to escape daily life stresses. I can see this in the a tear is only water a sigh only air line and 'In safety, a hidden sphere away from our daily reality.' All of these meaning appeal so strongly to me.

preferito Line: Close your eyes for the night is falling fear no dark for it's warm and safe.

preferito Part: Away from our daily reality
Truth lies out there 2x

8. leonessa (Xandria): This song as probably one of my preferito melodies and harmonies. Lisa has a very lovely and angelic voice, and that voice put on display in this song. leonessa puts forth all of what makes Lisa a wonderful singer. With graceful soprano notes and soothing semi-operatic vocals, leonessa earned and deserves it's spot in my superiore, in alto 10. Of course the charming lyrics were also a factor; an image of the most dazzling, golden, deadly leonessa stalking her prey in vast sandy landscape was painted masterfully in my head, setting a fearsome but soothing mood; 'Cerulean sky over dessert fields and sand veils
and underneath a leonessa is stalking narrowing rings.' and 'Do te feel her gentle touch, her embrace hurts just as much.' certainly do the job.

preferito Line: Her embrace is murderous beware of the lioness.

preferito Part: The leonessa is hunting us so beautiful and dangerous.

7. Redemption (Magica): I am so glad I found Magica's redemption. I came across it completely da accident when I accidentally clicked the wrong video under YouTubes related section. Holy cow, this song (to me anyhow) is really the perfect song. The mix of vocals and instruments was well balanced, not one overshadowing nor over powering the other. This song definitely has my preferito chitarra rift and preferito chitarra solo. At the chitarra solo all the other instruments just cut out and your ears are just graced with this powerful chitarra melody. Equally as powerful is Ana's vocals. They are clear they are smooth they are heavenly. Once again bringing up the high notes, that's a sure fuoco way to draw me in and aside from maybe Sharon tana, den Adel's I don't think any soprano vocals match up to Ana's in this song. The song is called redemption for a reason--redemption is powerful redemption is beautiful. The song lyrically is mystifying, just like the voice they are sung by. All around magnificent song.

preferito Line: Your eyes are diamonds in the night.

preferito Part: My preferito part of this song is either the chitarra solo o 'and say goodbye to the magic sword
And return her to the forest of the elven lord.'

6. Jillian (Within Temptation): This song is my secondo preferito song da Within Temptation. For one thing I just adore the name Jillian so the song titolo kind of drew me in. And then when I actually listened to it...I was so impressed. It's got this very forlorn sound to it, a sense of desperateness. Basically it has emotion. Emotion can totally make o break a song, and Sharon nailed it with putting voice into it. Jillian is a great song in mostrare off what Sharon can do with her soprano range, which is the thing that drew me to her (vocally) in the first place. Her sound is clear, clean, and strong. This is especially prominent at the 'no più tears' breakdown. This song is love. From the first verse to the last Jillian is one of those songs that I can keep on repeat forever. I am also amazed da the intro to the song, very magnificent, especially if te listen to the extended version. I'm also very keen on the instrumental version and the orchestral version. Sharon's voice is pretty, the lyrics are fetching, Jillian is just an all around superb song.

preferito Line: Many seasons have passed me da I've seen kingdoms through ages rise and fall.

preferito Part: Jillian, no più tears...Jillian, no più tears...

5. Dance With Me (Omega Lithium): Dance with me was my open door to Industrial Metal. Mya has rougher vocals and is più alto than soprano. Though I am più of a soprano lover, I totally got on board with Mya's lower, harsher vocals. I am also fond of that scratchier rougher vocal type and Mya fills that to a degree. I like the instruments they are pretty heavy. This song is about meeting someone and wanting to essentially hookup with them. And the song portrays this in a unique way--it's a romance song but it doesn't sound all lovey dovey. And I like that. I enjoy this song because it brings fourth something unique. I enjoy the background voices that kind of cue in each 'dance with me'. Those are what had me intrigued. I like the lyrics such as 'Join me, taste the colori spill your life on me.' It's just an interesting way of describing something. The band and the song aren't that well known I simply wish I had più people to talk about the band with.

preferito Line: We all bleed here te don't have to pretend.

preferito Part: Dance with me dance with me burn it dire breathe the fire.

4. calzino N Doll (Kontrust): calzino N Doll is another industrial metal song. It has a somewhat similar sound to Dance With Me. Agata is a phenomenal vocalist with a lower vocal range. She sounds kind of like Mya but her vocals are cleaner...less rough and scratchy. This song has this sort of (I'm wanting to say) polka theme, complete with yodeling at the breakdown, but it's also got the heavy guitars and the heavy basso associated with rock and metal. I know I've been dropping 'unique' a lot. But to combine polka and metal...that's pretty interesting and hard to come by. I do like the message of the song; if I interpreted it right it's about just letting go of your stress at least for one night and having a good time. One line asks 'why do I feel so good on the dance floor?' Implying that maybe the narrator just isn't doing so well and he/she is finally living a bit and almost doesn't understand how. 'Don't lose heart!
Don't lose yourself and stand up!' Is a pretty good indicator of this message. complessivamente, generale it's an upbeat song but very desperate sounding at the same time. It's a neat contrast.

preferito Line: te are, te are a confused dancing star, moving fast through the night so far, so far, the night's getting bizarre.

preferito Part: I think my preferito part of this song actually is the yodeling lol.

3. Waiting (Emma Hewitt): Emma just has such a calming voice. I adore this song because it's so calming. Emma's voice is just so smooth and graceful. This is definitely my preferito trance song. This song is different from the other songs in my superiore, in alto 5 as I can't really say why I like it as much as I do. Not with as much depth anyhow. I simply just Amore it--no memories attached. It has a catchy beat, I just like the song a lot vocally and instrumentally.

preferito Line: Haunted da your grace te know I'm falling so cold without you.

preferito Part: Till that giorno I take te home know that I'm waiting.

2. Generation Me (Delain): Generation Me is just play awesome. Right from the first line it was love. Even before the first line, during the intro when she was 'oooing' I was like 'this song is love.' First and foremost, carlotta, charlotte Wessels! I adore her, she's such a lovely person, and as lovely as she, is her voice. She goes from high notes to low notes with ease. This song is proof of that. Everything about Charlotte's vocals in this song is glorious.I also enjoy this song because I can relate it to a lot of characters I love. Of course the song just wouldn't be complete without some good instruments. I was wholeheartedly attracted the the chitarra at its first strum. I also appreciate this song deeply as it (alongside April Rain) was what landed Delain as my secondo preferito band. This is their song of their's I have the lyrics memorized. Lyrically I am fond of the song as well. I like that sense of independence and self-reliance. Like hell yes! 'I don't know if I spend my time in vain in getting everyone to know my name all I know is my face looks fuckin right from this certain angle certain light.' Like dat confidence. Great lyrics, great beat, great band. It's always a pleasure to listen to.

preferito Line: Don't te try to analyse we are just ways to reach the stars.

preferito Part: So here I am can't te see it's generation me I don't need anyone o anything.

1. Our Farewell (Within Temptation): Okay this song is just so special to me. The whole song is an eargasm! All of it, every single part, no exceptions! First and foremost the song is super important to me on an emotional level. When my dog passed away, when my aunt passed away, this was the song I turned to. Despite it's name, the ending line was 'this is not our farewell' and that was just such an important thing to hear at the time. To know that in death (depending on your faith) it's not a farewell forever. That said, Our Farewell's meaning is just superb. The song is about losing someone and just when te think it's hopeless 'because my child, this not our farewell this is not our farewell.' The song is an all around sweet song because no matter how te interpreter it, the narrator is standing da the person he/she is saying farewell to, providing this person comfort; 'See the sadness in your eyes te are not alone in life although te might think that te are' and 'I will watch te through these nights
rest your head and go to sleep.' I just cannot get over how sweet and beautiful the message of this song is. Our Farewell actually had me tearing up. I don't tear up easily, and this song is the only song to make me do so. That's just how powerful it is...how moving. The fact that it was able to sposta me so much is what got me to like the song as much as I do. Those tears came to my eyes before Our Farewell was even in the superiore, in alto ten. That said, Our Farewell is the song that got me into Within Temptation--at least it was the song that had me loving them as much as I do (Ice Queen & Mother Earth got me into the band). This song is what had me obsessed with that band, and I'm so glad it did because Within Temptation as a whole is an important band to me. The meaning and the nostalgia tied to the songs aren't the only reasons it's my number 1 song. I'm also a big fan of the instruments; the Pianoforte intro really set the mood, the Pianoforte melody aided with that sense of sadness a real lot. But the song certainly wouldn't have such emotion behind it if not for Sharon's (always) sublime vocals. Sharon just has such an alluring, graceful, and beautiful voice. Her high notes are always on key. She's a very powerful singer, her voice is clear and smooth and soothing. Our Farewell exploited all of that. In melody and harmony her voice is just on point, especially in the song's breakdown. I think that Our Farewell is just an all around perfect song, I'm so glad it exists. It's not every giorno that te stumble across such a musical gem.

preferito Line: Because my child, this not our farewell
this is not our farewell.

preferito Part: So sorry your world is tumbling down
I will watch te through these nights.
