In an interview Lucy Hale(Aria) detto they were doing it completely different from the libri so he might not be.

Ya in like the first book... if they were following the libri at all he would have died towards the beginning of the FIRST season...

I think he's hurt,but that's only because I don't want to believe that he's dead.I refuse to believe that until I have further proof.

No he's not dead in the book maybe,but the mostra no they staged his death so Spencer would see and become crazy and have to go to Radley where she joins the A team and meets up with Toby who was also on the A team to protect Spencer from A so Toby is not dead!
