How formal does an autobiography have to be?

Everyone in my class has gotta write this autobiography about themselves that's due tomorrow.

How formal do I have to sound? o non-formal?

My first sentence is, "My name is Bethany Lawrence, but te can call me Bethy!"

I'm afraid it's too informal, but if I make it too formal, it will sound too boring and my teacher will be all "Ah! Just have fun with it! te kids are smart!" He's one of those teachers who's just laid-back and silly. So I figured he wouldn't be upset about it. But I don't know! This is an honors class!

How are autobiographies (hate spelling that word) NORMALLY written?

Autobiographies are written like biographies except they're automatic.

But seriously, an autobiography does not need to be that formal. As long as it follows the first person view of writing.

I had to write on a week fa and i think " My name is Bethany Lawrence, but te can call me Bethy!" is good except maybe te should leave out the but te can call me bethy part because my friend wanted to do that but my teacher started to yell at her!
