Another ten indie games reviewed and another articolo talking about all the great stuff that makes the indie market what it is. But before te we get to that, te all know the drill. It’s time to talk about the indie games that I reviewed and see which ones were the best. Now there isn’t gonna be any YIIKs o We Happy Fews this time. Every game was a game I enjoyed. Yeah, some più than others, but there wasn’t a bad game this time, and thank goodness. But don’t worry, the successivo few will have some real stinkers. So let us see which games are the best and which are the least best.

10: Divekick

As a fighting game fan, I did enjoy this games competitive nature and inside jokes. However, aside from online, it offers very little in replay value and is mostly best played among Friends who are also fighting game fans

9: Manual Samuel

The frustrating gameplay, while neat in its own way, wasn’t something I stuck around for in this game. But the witty humor and challenges of the game made me want più from this world and the studio behind it

8: Reigns

A decent puzzle game that has good twists and interesting ways of solving problems, but is mostly fun in short bursts at a time rather than playing for hours. Astral Chain this is not

7: 1979 Revolution: Black Friday

A decent adventure game that tells an interesting story on a part of history that so many haven’t been told of. Still an indie titolo I consider important, but just don’t go in expecting it to be gameplay first.

6: Dream Daddy

Am I a bastard for putting a game that has been memed over an actual piece of history? Probably. Regardless, Dream Daddy is a fun dating sim that is worth checking out if te don’t mind the memes that are associated with, o the fact that Game Grumps is painfully unfunny

5: Absolver

Honestly the game I expected to have little to say but thanks to playing più online, was able to just say “It’s like Dark Souls PvP with your fists”... Take from that what te will

4: Horizon Chase Turbo

While I am still più of a fan of kart racing games cause I’m a child, Horizon Chase Turbo was a fun indie titolo made da a small team and is one that I see myself coming back to again and again.

3: 2064: Read Only Memories

Now this was a game that took me off guard with it’s world and story, and I am happy for that. Definitely one of the better written stories of the past year. And still one of the publishers better games. Better than YIIK, for sure

2: Salt and Sanctuary

I was actually going to be far più negative with this game until I restarted, used what I learned along with my knowledge of Dark Souls to get further, and eventually found myself loving this game. Now that is how te do gaming journalism

1: Cuphead

Surprising absolutely no one, Cuphead was the best indie games I’ve played out of this set. With it’s difficult but rewarding gameplay, amazing art, fun boss fights, great food, and one of the most unique concepts for an indie titolo out there. If te haven’t played Cuphead… well, it was on Xbox One at one point so I understand, but it’s on Switch now so it’s totally worth it.

So now that we got the repetitive stuff out of the way, who’s excited to hear about some video game news? I’m not because it’s all fucking horrible

~News~

Super Meat Boy’s Epic Exclusivity

Who wants to hear a joke? Epic Games Store. The fact that Super Meat Boy sold out to Epic and called it a deal that no one could refuse, it’s a miracle that anyone even cares about Super Meat Boy. After losing its actual important member, the team just kinda fell apart from there. Don’t buy Super Meat Boy on the Epic store. It ain’t worth it. Buy Binding of Isaac instead. It’s on every console right now and is so much better.

~Coming Attractions~

Eastward

This here is what mastering the beauty of pixel art can do. te all thought that Blasphemous had it all taken care of with it’s insanely detailed art, but then comes Eastward with it’s amazing level and character designs. Just the trailer alone made me invested in the steam like world of Eastward. One things for sure, this is an indie game that cannot come soon enough. Once again, great pixel art over shitty 3D modelle any day.

Roki

Oh look, another indie game that is just gonna have a bunch of neat imagery when all te do is walk from left to right and nothing else. What joy. But no, seriously, I don’t mind indie games that are all walking as long as the visuals are nice and the story is gripping and there are some precautions to take so te don’t die o something. While I can’t speak for the challenge, the art design of Roki is definitely cute while also looking pretty creepy what with the dark woods aesthetic. I’m sure this game has potential.

Skater XL

While I did play Ollie Ollie and thought it was a decent game, the controls for it kinda kept me from ever finishing it. Thankfully, Skater XL looks like my kind of game. Sure it looks like a PS3 game, early PS3, but being a fan of skateboarding games and since Tony Hawk will never get a new game that’s of any actual worth, Skater XL may fill the void in my nostalgic heart

Youropa

Now if my profilo picture wasn’t a thing, I am a fan of the smooth, round mascot looking characters. And Youropa looks like the kind of game that will appeal to that. A gravity defiying puzzle game, it looks like it will have a lot of creative freedom to it as te play as what looks like a Go-Go’s Crazy Bone. A neat game that I will keep an eye out for when it comes out on Switch

Phogs

No, this was not made da the Katamari Damacy o PaRappa the Rapper team, though you’d be forgiven for thinking that. Phogs follows a conjoined duo of Cani as te use their weird CatDog body to solve puzzles. I can see this being a co-op indie titolo that can either lead to some unique puzzles o the two players pissing each other off and making dick jokes. The perfect co-op experience.

The Touryst

Okay, first off, the spelling of that name is making the grammar Nazi in me die a little, Second, this game has an interesting use of pixel art da making it 3D, which is always pleasing to me for some reason. I can see this game being pretty chill while also having an underlying plot to it, my preferito kind of plots

Skellboy

Now that I think about it, there is a lot of indie games associated with skeletons. I blame Undertale for that. Anyway, another 3D styled game with pixel art, though più akin to Octopath Traveler than anything, this fun looking RPG has a style to it that just looks fun to me. I may try it out when it comes out

And that is the line up. I wanted to talk about Blasphemous but I didn’t get these reviews out in time, so… maybe I’ll review it one day. But not yet. I got some other games to review, another game. Maybe even a contender for the indie game of this year
