Well, Vampiri#From Dracula to Buffy... and all creatures of the night in between. are weakened da the sun and licantropi are bound da the moon because that is their weakness. No curse involved.

So, the sun and the moon curse doesn't exist, yes. That was made up da Klaus and Elijah eons ago. The real curse is the curse on Klaus. That is because he is a hybrid. The werewolf part of him remains dormant because of spells that were cast upon him. No one believed someone should possess that much power.
