I woke to everything that seemed wrong. That's when I realized it was wrong because it was the same as I had seen for 4 years straight. Blue walls and mirrored closet. I started to panic, and I tried to jump out of the bed. That's when I realized that my arms were tied to the letto with rope like iron. And when I tried to burn the stuff off there was no response from my powers. "What the-"
"Infinity, it's nice to see you." A familiar voice said.
My eyes widened beneath the sunglasses that had thankfully stayed on. "No. No! What did te do with them?" I didn't care a thing about myself. I needed for them to stay safe. They would never trust me again.
"Your 'friends,'" he snorted at the word, "are perfectly alright."
"NO! te wouldn't be so forgiving!" I shouted. "Where are they?" I struggled against the bonds, but there was no let. As I once again tried to burn the rope, Slade pointed something out.
"You have no powers-"
"No duh!" I muttered.
"-because te overused them." He finished, annoyed. It caught my attention that he had detto "overused."
"What do te mean, overused? I've barely used them!" He slid out of the shadows and came to my side, right up to me. "How long do te think you've been out, Infinity?"
"I dunno, around like 8 hours."
"Think più around 2 months."
This struck the final blow. There was no way, none that I had slept for 2 months. No way! But then I realized suddenly that I'd been having nightmares about stealing for him again. Hurting everyone. And it finally made sense what he was saying.
"I- I can't save them... because I've already betrayed them."
He nodded and turned away towards my desk. I promised Robin I'd stay with them. How do I fix this? I felt tears running down my face, and Slade turned back to me. "Don't cry, kiddo," he detto indifferently. "I have something for you. It might hurt a bit, but you're used to it." He lifted a vial of some golden colored liquid, and it occurred to me that he was going to give me back my powers. It would take years to get over the pains of it this time. "Um..," I trembled, trying to keep the fear out of my voice, "You really don't need to do that. I'm fine. Really I am, I can learn how to fight without them."
"Ah, but without them, te can get hurt easily. I don't want that." He came closer, pointing the needle of the vial towards the vein in my arm. I squealed, scared of what would happen.
Just when it was millimeters away from my arms, however, the door crashed open and dust filled the whole room. When it cleared, there stood... well, everyone. Aqualad, Miss Martian, Artemis, Zatanna, Superboy, Kid Flash, a kid I didn't know, and even Batman. Most importantly, there was Robin. Robin was in the very front. He saw the vial, saw the bindings, saw Slade, and started kicking some serious butt.
I assumed while they were busy that I had struggled too hard, because before I knew it I had blacked out.
"Fin. Fin. C'mon Fin."
"Dude. She's gonna wake up really soon."
"God, I hope you're right Nathan. I just found her and-"
"Just calm down. She's getting up right now."
My eyes fluttered open to find myself in the exact same room I had fell asleep in. "Ugh, what the heck is going on?" I was dizzy and nauseated, I had been traveling way too much.
"Fin, thank god!" There was a tight clasp around me as Robin hugged the living heck out of me. "Dude I really don't feel good, that's not a very good idea."
"Oh, sorry." As my eyes overcame the fuzziness, I saw everyone. "Okay. Seriously. What the hell is going on?"
Robin looked at the unknown boy and then back to me. "You really don't remember? We found te in Slade's workshop, tied up. He was about to-"
"I remember that! But why'd te come back? I did all that stuff..." I trailed off as the people in the room looked at me like I was completely insane. "I betrayed you!"
"No, te didn't. te had no time to do that." Artemis pointed out.
"Yeah, you've only been gone for like 2 days." Superboy continued.
"Wait- what?"
Robin came over and sat successivo to me. "I think he somehow implanted false memories in her mind. Of her fighting us again. That's what te saw?"
I looked down. "False memories. That's a good thought. He's in jail now, right? Like, high security?"
Batman nodded, and everyone was silent for a moment. Then Aqualad spoke up.
"You are a very good fighter, fast, and strong. I believe that even without your powers te will be able to defeat any obstacles in your way. Just with the proper training. I say te should be inducted onto the team. Do we really need to vote?"
No one detto any different. "It's official then, kid," Superboy said.
"Welcome to the team!" Kid Flash announced. There was a great amount of laughter and clamor as everyone crowded around me to congratulate me. Everyone but the unknown kid. Now that I could see him, he was actually really beautiful. His hair was a rich gray- no, not gray. Silver. His eyes were green and sparkling. He noticed me staring and walked up.
"I'm Quicksilver. I just joined as well. My real name's Nathan Stone." He shook my hand, and I felt energy between us.
I could tell this was going to be a great team.
