IU‬'s soju CF's could possibly be banned

(NOTE: Despite what allkpop says, this is just a bill and not a law yet. The bill ALSO states that anyone advertising before the age restriction, if this becomes law, will be able to continue to do so. This is known as a 'grandfather' clause.)

A revised bill of the 'National Health Promotion Act' has been passed in South Korea da the Health and Welfare Committee. The new law states that no person, celebritàs and sports stars included, who are at the international age of 24 o younger can partake in promotions for alcohol.

If the law is passed, it will directly affect IU, who is currently an endorsement model for popolare soju brand 'Chamisul', as her CF's will no longer be aired.

On April 23, a representative from the Health and Welfare Committee said, "The law proposed da Lee Ailesa from the Saenuri Party wishes to stop celebritàs and athletes, who have a major impact on young people, and those who are internationally 24 years o younger, from endorsing alcohol."

This means that it is all right for celebritàs and athletes to take part in alcohol endorsements, but no one who is 24 years o younger will be allowed to endorse alcohol. This is regarding international age and not Korean age, and affects those who are born in 1991 who have not yet turned 24.

If the bill is passed, the ban will take place in not only CF's on TV but in print advertisements as well including newspapers, posters, etc.

This bill was proposed because of figure skater Kim Yuna's endorsement of 'Hite' birra back in April 2012. As Kim Yuna is a world-renown Olympic winner, with fan of all ages including minors, it was detto that her alcohol CF's would likely affect minors to want to drink alcohol.

What do te think of this possible ban?

Amidst the news of Lee Tae Im's car accident and the growing controversy over IU's "Zeze," tvN's 'SNL Korea' has jumped in headfirst with a parody that has caused its own controversy.

On November 10, the show's official Facebook postato a picture to make light of the situation involving Dongnyok Publishing Company criticizing IU for her lyrics referencing 'My Sweet arancia, arancio Tree.' The picture's post used the title, 'Ms. Lee Tae Im. Sae Yoon is not that kind of child.'

The content borrows the voice and words from Dongnyok's official statement, saying, "Sae Yoon, as a 36-year-old nerd, is a child...
