Well shoot, from one game franchise with a protagonist change to the other. I had always heard about how amazing the Metal Gear Solid franchise was, and I always wanted to give it a try. And Metal Gear Solid 2, the franchise that used to be hated da many, was the first one I played. Remember back when everyone hated Metal Gear Solid 2, but it’s a classic? Well, I always enjoyed Metal Gear Solid 2, as proven da being on this list.
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty follows the story of not Solid Snake but rather angsty twink Raiden as he goes on a mission at an Oil Tanker in the middle of the ocean to stop a terrorist group known as Dead Cell, also Russians, cyborg ninjas, and the president get involved o some shit. And that right there is the reason people didn’t like the game… Well, not the later stuff. Raiden, he was the reason no one liked Metal Gear Solid 2 when it first came out. And honestly, I never had a problem with Raiden. Yeah, he’s not as cool as Solid Snake, but he’s definitely got his own character about him that makes him unique in his own way. He has his own skills that make him different as well, like being able to roll kick, as well as having the skills with a katana, the weeaboo classic. But what about the game itself? It’s classic stealth from the Metal Gear franchise, as well as some bosses to fight. The bosses in Metal Gear Solid 2 were pretty fun. Unlike Volgin from 3 o whatever that last fight in the first game was, 2 didn’t really have any bad boss fights. They were all unique, interesting, and fun to play. My preferito is Fat Man because he’s so fucking stupid to look at and it makes me laugh. The game also had a really interesting political and societal message on technology and also something about connecting to the players, I don’t know. It’s been years since I watched an analysis video on Metal Gear Solid 2. But it was the first game that got me interesting in Leggere about the deeper lore and meanings of video games, something I would do for later, far più confusing games in the future.
Metal Gear Solid 2 is regarded as a classic these days, and I am happy for that, cause boy does it deserve it. It’s got the right amount of stealth action fun, the witty humor of a Kojima game, and all that weird underlying undertones that te see in his games. I wouldn’t say Metal Gear Solid 2 is a good starting point in the franchise, cause boy was I confused when I started, but it’s definitely worth your time.
