How do Muggleborn students communicate with their Muggle Friends during the school year?

Because it's not like they could just send owls...

They could still send them letters. Owls are smart enough to drop off the letters in a place where Muggles wouldn't see that owls did it. That's what happened with petunia and how she got a letter from Dumbledore. Wizards are probably in the Muggle mail system.

I secondo that option. Severus as a child used to believe there were some wizard working undercover in the Royal Mail service...
