Daniel Radcliffe interview about DH part 2?(SPOILER)

In an interview with Movie Magic Mag, Daniel Radcliffe detto that Voldemort tried to beat Harry to death..
He states 'He(voldemort) just tries to kill Harry, physically, just da beating him up...'
Does this happen in the books? It's been a while since I've read them.....
